    Even with a restricted community agreement, you can't be restricted from putting up a satellite. Visit the fcc website if you need more infomation, this topic has already been covered several times here at /.

    also you need cable or satelite to get many of the new shows and tennacy agreements do not allow you to put up a satelite dish in most instances

    Shame you don't live in the US where tennacy agreements aren't allowed to keep you from getting satellite.

    Let's say you do your taxes with turbotax online and in 5 years you get audited but still have the soft copy of your return...a lot of good that does you; you have to go beg turbotax to let you access the 5 year old software...assuming they even exist anymore. There is no way I'd pay for such a broken "service".

    You are aware that you can print from turbotax right?

    By the way, since the XBox 2 will use the PowerPC G5, it shouldn't be that difficult to port future XBox games to the Power Mac G5 and the iMac, both of which are 64-bit now.

    that's an interesting albeit flawed argument.

    people have enjoyed recording pay per view movies with vcr's for the last 20 years, it's ridiculous to tell consumers they can't do what they've been doing for the last 20 years just because they've upgraded their video recording equipment.

    Is there any proof to this, I can't imagine Christopher Reeve helping with a new superman movie just because he was in a different superman movie 10 years ago.

    that nic chipset has drivers available at bebits, there are also samba and nfs clients available at bebits.

    i agree that it's annoying to have to download the driver the first time, but i've had to download drivers for common hardware for linux distro's before.

    I would love to try Gentoo, but there is simply no excuse for putting users through all those hoops.

    I agree, Gentoo is the only linux distro I've ever seen that is harder to install than any of the bsd's.

    You can use Knoppix as a completely harddisk-based distro. It would be much faster than when you run it on CD-ROM.

    Isn't it called Debian when you run it as a harddrive based distro?

    Sony would like to set themselves up to be the microsoft of the entertainment world. They consistantly ignore market demands and instead produce devices they want people to have instead of devices that people want to have.

    Honestly, how many people would want a portable music player that plays some format other than mp3? and takes a higher priced, sony only memory card?
