    This just can't compete with pay-per-view.. I'm sorry.. The reason that people get pay-per-view is to record it. I don't know anyone that pays the $8 or whatever a ppv movie is that doesn't record it.

    No one is going to buy a proprietary dvd that they can only play a few times when they can ppv the movie and record it and watch it infinate times.

    Its a status thing.. people like to physically own a movie whether they bought it or copied it off ppv is irrelevant, the very idea that they can stockpile cassettes and then watch any movie they've already seen on a whim is appealing to people.

    i forget the latin word for it, but i believe the gov't leaves the fuct up company and the minor in the position they put themselves in, but the contract would void. IE, I knowingly sell a kid a computer for $50 and he agrees to pay me $10 a month for maintanece or something, he can keep it and I can keep the money, but he isn't bound to pay the $10 a month for mantanience.

    Easy.. just send them an email asking that they agree to your end vendor license agreement, and if they don't they need to ensure there is no possible way for you to buy their software.

    I love the dead tree variety of book..
    With any CS related book, its good to have a book that both teaches and also lends itself well as a quick reference manual as well. Given a choice in books, I always buy the kind that work both as quick references and also serve to teach.. These kinds of books usually have the concepts covered in alphabetical order, or by order of complexity or some other useful order, and they have large amounts of code samples and other illustrating examples.

    Nothing is more annoying than to have a book discuss a concept and not have code sample showing the concept in action.

    Actually it probably would be cheaper.. I know at the local copy shop, plastic spiral binding is like $5 whereas real glued in binding is like $20

    thats kinda like whats habbo has going.. you can create a character and create a room.. but if you want any furniture or slot machines or anything, you have to purchase habbo money (i forget the actual name) and use that in game..

    If Mythic loses this case, all the people buying and selling crap lose out too, because Mythic can just close up shop or develop different games. This is a pretty ignorant lawsuit if you think about it.

    actually its not the same thing at all..
    consider if you will nascar racing.. its my understanding that all those ads on the side of the car basically pay the person to drive it.. now when that person wins, they still get the trophy.. not 7up or whoever..save thing with online crack.. you could sponser someone playing if you enjoyed the act of them playing or something.. but its not really the same thing as if you paid for the account, paid someone to play on said account and then later took the credit for it.

    I dont play online rpgs.. so maybe I'm missing something, but how can you sue a company for getting upset when you violate their TOS agreements.. If you agree that you can't sell in game items for physical cash, and then go around selling your in game items for physical cash, you are violating the terms of service agreement you signed to play the game. I fail to see how this online auction house thinks they can win this case.

    that is such a great idea.. I often wondered how hard it would be to make such a program ever since I first started seeing those photo mosaics at the store where I work a few years ago. it should actually be pretty easy to do to.. You would just have to make sure you have images of the same size or if you didnt youd have to puzzle fit them all together some how..

    True.. ask even a liberal thinking minority why there isn't a white history month since there is a black history month and they will tell you that every month is white history month, when in actuality, non whites have comprised the majority throughout most of our known history with the exception of the last couple hundred years.. You think whites are bad about slavery.. think about the egyptians.. think how big the slave to free people ratio must of been to have those huge pyramids and various landmarks of human accomplishment..

    What amazes is me, the /. community takes every chance they get to flame MS.. sure this might be a case of too little too much, but still atleast they are doing something..

    Instead wasting time flaming MS on this move, the /. community should be giving themselves a collective pat on the back, finally after all these years of using linux and complaining about MS security, something is being done.

    Yeh.. if it is backlite, it will have several advantages over the gba.. Judging from the pictures, the GP has a slightly better form factor for those of us that have hands bigger than the average 5 year old, the screen is 3.5 inches instead of the 2.5(i think) of the GBA, and the games themselves should be a bit cheaper than GBA games..
