we should encourage the USA company Microsoft to try to take over this market? We should encourage the Microsoft Monopoly as good for America? Maybe we should permit the monopoly to continue so long as they use their overly high prices to hire more patriotic americans?
Is what is good for the USA also good for Microsoft? is what is good for Microsoft good for the USA? Is Microsoft the last great hope for Planet Earth?
I posted this before, and now we get this story posted where it actually fits the best. Got to get a better crystal ball. If you've seen this before, move along. Data posted here for sake of completeness....
As noted in another thread:
Neogentronyx is currently in the process of constructing a Bipedal Exo-Skeletal Robotic Vehicle
[neogentronyx.com], known as a Mech and designated NMX04-1A. The
purpose of the NMX04-1A is proof of concept and to make the first bold
step towards full production of Mecha vehicles, affordable to civilians
and not just commercial entities. There are
plenty of pretty pictures and info here [neogentronyx.com]. See also these larger more recent pics [coasttocoastam.com]
Another fine product of Alaska, approximately 18 ft tall (7 meters)
As someone noted:
Bring a few cans of WD-40. Looks like they are assembling this thing out in the open! No building to put it in!
This reminds me of the urban legend that makes the rounds about scientists drilling into the earth being startled by the sounds of hell emerging from the pipe. Complete with escaping bat or demon emerging from the pipe.
You got your regular legit software, you got your viruses, and in the middle you got your virusware. It's not a virus, but a software that uses misleading virus techniques to get itself installed, etc. Includes most of the spyware junk.
It also gives it the nasty sounding name that will turn people off of the garbage even if they don't quite know what it means.
Neogentronyx is currently in the process of constructing a Bipedal Exo-Skeletal Robotic Vehicle, known as a Mech and designated NMX04-1A. Their goal is not simply to build the NMX04-1A. The purpose of the NMX04-1A is proof of concept and to make the first bold step towards full production of Mecha vehicles.
Couple of months back Boing Boing pointed to a news story reporting that global warming has created such favorable conditions for squids that the cephalopod biomass is now greater than the human biomass. We don't know how many there are or how big they get. We are NOT ready. Play it smart.
Although they look flaccidly impotent when laid out dead on the deck, when alive in the water, Humboldt squid are powerful, vicious, meat-eating predators, and they are very dangerous to swim near. Around Baja, more gruesome stories are told about people getting killed by squid than by any other sea creature. Imagine a swarm of 50-pound animals capable of swimming more than 20 miles-per-hour, equipped with voracious appetites and over 1,000 suckers, each containing about 20 gripping teeth strong enough to tear human skin (correct, that's 20,000 teeth!). And, surrounded by that cluster of four-foot long arms is a powerful parrot's beak the size of a small tangerine, snapping and cutting at anything pulled within its reach.
In Baja, the typical "diablo" squid story involves a hapless fisherman who is suddenly caught and pulled overboard while night fishing commercially with lights. Within a couple of seconds, his entire body is literally covered with clinging, biting squid that quickly pull him down into the dark and tear him to pieces before anybody can help.
Yes it is important to remember that they are NOT the same creature
I can remember a similar story from when I was in the navy.
Ship's captain had a policy that as long as the work for the day was done, the dept head could let folks leave for the day. Of course people on watch had to stay overnight, etc. but that was routine.
One day, when I was on watch, a guy comes over right after lunch, from another ship, looking to speak with someone about some parts. He was told that the guy he was looking for was gone for the day. The poor bloke was puzzled as to why the guy was gone for the day, until the above was explained to him. Then he was totally bummed, because it was obvious that he was assigned to "the wrong ship"
Hriders.com gives unlimited free 1 Terabyte email accounts that include 500 Megabyte attachments. We have been asked why we would do such a thing. The answer is simple to help people store large amounts of information in a safe and secure environment. - - - We decided that yes a Terabyte of space may sound rather extreme to some, others will not think so. If you have a free membership with Hriders.com then you will receive a free 1 Terabyte 500 Megabyte attachment email account. You will be able to store over 40 million emails, videos, games, mp3s, or pictures.
This might be useful, if they don't collapse under/.
Don't ever quite (read it twice) unless you have something else in line.
the spell checking nazis will have fun with that
That said, I actually quit one job because the boss was a roller coaster alchoholic, smooth and polite one day, mean and vindictive and nasty the next. I left for mental health reasons, not wanting to become a news item in the local news paper. It is never a good thing when you start contemplating evil things to do to your boss.
I have seen comments in other forums regarding this bill.
Basic take being, why should the system be fixed if it isn't broken? Assumption being, they like the results they got the last time, so the system is not broken.
The older drives have larger disks. Look for some older MFM 5.25 hard drives.
They make a very very nice true bell like ringing sound. The more modern drive disks sound tinny. I would take the modern disks and cut them into segments. This also makes sure that the data is not easily recoverable. That and the liberal use of sand paper.
seriously - look through grandma's closet. There might be something useful there.
Sad to say that George went with a simplistic storyline over the first three movies of the Star Warts series
I wrote long ago that it would have been far more diabolic to have made Anakin a set of twins in the first place. Together with the problems of mistaken identy, and which one becomes Darth Vader, all this supplies enough potential for twists to drive most fans crazy. It would have been delicious.

I wonder what halloween sound effects album it was stolen from?

Do you think that he's any competition?
Click here for info on how this story really came about.
Someone finally did the leg work to track the story down. On the other hand, I would like to find the source of the Audio Clip.

I can just imagine a mosh pit filled with these things.
and make an elongated smear
Windows had a theme like this with vacuum tubes on the inside
yes, welcome to the age of vacuum tube computing
This should take about ten seconds

Those are the Humboldt Squid, not an Octopus. Like I said above
Octopus are much more mild mannered
And of course, there is this on the dangers of squid: Scary Squid Stories:

One can only imagine what the BOFH for Homeland Security (or the equivalent) would be doing about now. I mean, just imagine....

Microsoft has got to fix this naming convention of theirs, unless someone is really trying to tell us in secret how messed up things really are?

Heat with a spot blow torch along the line you want to cut. Let cool slowly. This soften the metal for cutting.

otherwise, maybe some of the text based adventure games, or even something like the old Trade Wars on Telnet, or webified versions.
These are meant to be safe suggestions, as I imagine that things that require fancy key combos and timing might be frustrating
Tradewars 2002
Official Site
Trade Wars was/is an excellent strategy type game. (old style graphics, tho)
