and i do hate to admit it - but with their buying power this really could actually help drop the cost of these sorts of lights for everyone.
in any case, good for wal-mart. this, along with that $4 RX deal they've started (in some areas? dunno if it's company-wide yet), and we've got a few small steps in the right direction. now if only wal-mart would use it's buying power to get a good deal on gas...
You had the input/output cables mixed up (the ones that went to the 32x and back to the genesis) - one of my friends as a kid got one and had the same issue. Once we got the cables sorted out it worked fine:)
"Intents and purposes" - You're correct on that point, my bad.
In any case - this isn't so much about how open Vista's key system is - i can respect the idea that sometimes commercial software is worth the money. However - imo this is going to cause nothing but hassle with the niche market of pc gamers who update their system every year, if not more frequently (yes, there are people out there who swap out video cards multiple times a year. people with far too much free time and disposable income).
This will do nothing more than to spur the grey market for hacks or cracks to get around the authentication.
There are many things I've gotten use to in this right handed world out of need - such as using the mouse on the right side *and* shooting right-handed firearms.
"..by making a homebrew game for the Game Boy Advance handheld video game system"
How do you plan on using this game on your GBA without a "development kit" (read: flash cart+writer)? The pirate flash carts and kits aren't free you know:P
you sir, have not played siphon filter: dark mirror. It's by no means a port, it's a true, original title in the series. Ditto on Wipeout Pure, Katamari, and GTA - all original games, not ports. GTA simply takes place in the same city as GTA3, but has completely new missions and some updates to the engine.
Anyway - you're whining about ports, yet your getting exited about a *port* of lumines 1 to the 360 and PS2...
also look at the face of the unit. Again, it's not the final product so anything can happen - i'd just prefer to see it match up more with the 360 somehow.
Ok first off - i really dislike that the add-on drive currently doesnt seem to match the 360 (but, being pre-release this could change). Second - i think i'm just going to hold off till the hd-dvd is built in before bothering with the 360.
Look, you have to hand it to microsoft here - they are at least TRYING. I really get the feeling that someone, somewhere inside redmont finally got a clue and got them fired up about really cracking down in terms of security. Look at the 360 (yes, there is a firmware hack for the dvdrom drives, but that is not mucking with the internal security), and how long Vista has been delayed and re-written.
I know this sounds a little crazy (trust me, i hate that I'm having to even write this post), but i really think MS is giving it the ol' college try from here on out...
My kingdom for some mod points. You've made some great points that NEED to be taken into account.
Sure, Linux is cool and all, but in terms of maturity - Give me Solaris, or give me Death (actually i'd also accept a flavor of BSD, but that's a whole other post).
you do know you can re-enable the 30 second skip at any time right? it's an undocumented feature that goes away if the tivo is restarted. while playing a pre-recorded item, simply press select-play-select-3-0-select
Look, we all know the warez scene *will* get around this. Once agian, this is simply a road block to keep joe sixpack from casually making copies of Vista.
I give it a month tops after Vista's release before a galaxy of pirate vista inall cds surface.
dude - i was just trying to be funny. hence the wink at the end of my post.
you should uncomment out humord in your startup scripts. it'll make life that much better.
$6?!?!
;)
Why back in MY day - allowance was $1/week! *grumble* damn kids today... if i were pulling in $6/week at age 6....
HAHAHA
"it's got what plants crave!"
They must figure that it costs less to subsidise the bulbs than build new capacity.
that's really not THAT crazy of an idea actually.

So in the year 2006... you don't have a DVD player? You do realize they can be had for under $50 now, right?

This may be true *today*, but think back to the time before we had a decent flavor of unix to run on cheaper x86 hardware.
:P
ps - to whom ever marked my OP as flame bait, you're sorely mistaken
MS is looking to hurt the pc enthusiasts who for all intensive purposes helped them create such a vast "empire"?
aside from the various "grey" hacks and cracks that *WILL* come out of this - this is a very poor choice for MS imo.
Preach on fellow south-paw!!!!

sigh.

Zonk you're such a fanboy :P
Lumines
Hot Shots Golf
Siphon Filter
SOCOM
GTA
Wipeout Pure
Katamari
and now Tekken! How can you claim this is "lackluster"?

Try the Slashdotter plugin for firefox...

Well, the SunFire v40z is a quad opteron... i'm sure there will be a refresh soon enough with dual core support (if it's not there already...)
Wtf is a Gameboy DS? There's the Gameboy Advance/Micro and the Nintendo DS.
I swear this site has to be run by a bunch of trained chimps. You suer as fuck won't see this sort of fuck up on an Xbox related story.
...and then shortly after i swaped it for a DEC Rainbow Plus.
Damn did i love that machine. Later on i got into the whole Mac thing.
Why is this modded troll?!? Sheesh, this is probably exactly how the NextGen will play out.
the 360 was *rushed*. DEAL WITH IT. I know slashdot seems to be kind of partial to the xboxes, but c'mon....
