And here I was always told that cell phones, laptop computers and personal electronics would crash the plane, if used in JUST the wrong, mysterious manner.
In rebuttal, I offer my personal anecdote: My mom has never had such an easy time using technology, than now in 2011, now that I've set her on iOS and soon, OSX. Just because the older generation doesn't find it intuitive doesn't mean they can't figure it out with a little tinkering, or at worst, very little Applecare phone support. To insinuate they can't set freaking alarms because they might accidentally push the wrong thing at first is insulting.
Proactively? Not really. The systems used for this are typically overseas, in countries that more or less don't care.
However, you -can- configure your server to disregard even initial connection attempts from specific ranges of IP addresses. I solved a lot of this on my own home FTP server by (sorry comrads) telling my server to ignore connection attempts from Russia and China.
Upon doing so, it went from a daily occurrence, to maybe one attempt a month. Usually less.
And, if a friend ever needs to FTP in from one of these countries, it's a simple enough rule change.
The links are pretty useless, if you're looking for more information. They simply put you on the actual site being hosted on the ATV. While that's interesting, and it'll be great to see if we can Slashdot it, it's not informative, nor does it really discuss the project or talk about a how-to.
Which is really too bad, surfing around Mac Mini Vault doesn't yield anything about the project, just -that- it exists. Can anyone else find info on the thing?
Damnit, misleading title. When you say "Pillow Fight" it means something specific, and when you say "iPad Fight" my imagination cheerfully brings me a fantastic mental image.
Makes total sense. If I was looking at houses, and the prior owners had installed a hot tub, earning them a glare or two from neighbors in the process, I would also pay a little extra for that amenity too. Duh. Beneficial improvement raises value.
No way. I even had my own personal 'business' card made ($9 for 500 is good, right?) and they get me free lunches from places like Perkins and Dennys all the time.
That $9 has saved me at least $50 so far, and I get to carry card that says "Back off, man. I'm a scientist."

You're just trying to get us to admit that we'll be gearing up to loot our local Frys, Best Buys, and other such electronic appliance stores.
My "setting up with" entailed "Happy Mothers Day / Birthday! Sorry I can't be there but here's your gift." So, yes.

I'm glad they found the case... unappealing.

I hop it work breaded than predictive testing.

I, uh, hmm. Okay. In Bizarro World, do they also have Submarine Cars and Space Boats?
Given the last 2 weeks of Sony's fiasco, I hope people are smart enough to avoid the PS3! =P

Why is this modded funny? This is insightful. There's a reason I left network engineering and went back to the medical field.
I don't care if they really do only spend $279 on replacements... but come ON... Compaq?? I'll keep the defective GPU, TYVM.
Was the lost data... all the stuff the PSN network lost? I think I see a connection!
I smell a lawsuit. Moses had the first tablets, right? I'm sure he at least copyrighted the term "tablet". Pay up.

We can rebuild him; faster, stronger... We have the technology!
Cancel the invasion, the government is still fully operational! It's a trap!!
does that mean we can never have quantum computers with any significant amount of memory?
16k ought to be enough for ANYbody.
I can enjoy about 15 minutes of 3D stuff, before it starts making my head hurt. Always has, across the various different technology types.
But the worst part about 3D is the movies that have only (poorly) implemented it as a gimmick or afterthought to try to wow in more sales.
So, if I make an XKCD dress, it'll be like a full-body corset that crushes the vict... er... female with it's insanely thin design for stick people?
Let's not jump to conclusions that this is all about -The Internet-.
Unregulated coffee can be DANGEROUS.
No, actually, he's got a point. I learned the hard way about where -not- to order Eggs Benedict.
