As for Number 9, when has there ever been a prohibition on Canadians from receiving a title such as "Sir" or "Lord" from the Queen? Your country is a Commonwealth member
A knighthood is a British title not a Canadian one. The Queen maybe Canada's monarch but she cannot confer a British title on a Canadian without the express permission of the Canadian government and that permission is rarely given.
It should also be noted that the Canadian monarchy is separate from the British one (or Australian, or New Zealand etc). The same person sits on the various thrones but they are all different and unique.
Also the Commonwealth is made up of countries that both acknowledge the Queen as their head of state and of those that don't.
All GUIs suck, some just suck less than others. Besides if they try and emulate OS X they'd get sued off by Apple. I don't remember MS suing anybody over copying their GUI.
Canada's immigration laws are even more liberal than America's. In fact they have come under fire by many in the Bush administration worried about border security. It is (wrongly) perceived that Canada is a sieve for terrorists, that they first enter Canada because it is easier, then cross the border into the US.
As for immigration from Latin America and Africa. Gee I'm sure hearing a lot a Spanish on Canadian streets these days. I'm sure they're not all from Spain. Most blacks in Canada are from the US or the Carribean but more and more are from Africa.
BTW Toronto in the most culturally diverse city in the world and Vancouver is not very far behind.
Yes Canada has its problems with regionalism and sometimes separatism but I wouldn't want to live anywhere else.
Maybe you should crack a history book or do you really believe the Hollywood version that America saved the world. Sorry to break this to you but victory in WWII was a combined effort, I doubt the US could have done it alone.
BTW Canadian troops did invade Europe just a few months after America joined the war. The battle was a failure but the Allies learned from it and it helped the planning for D-Day. Canada was there on D-Day too. We were largely responsible for the liberation of the Netherlands. Canadian-made bombers helped bombed the hell out of Germany and Canadian ships cleared the north Atlantic of U-boats.
But most of that gets lost in Hollywood hype and its rewriting of history. Remember the time Americans recovered an Enigma machine? Well you didn't.
Wrong! Go to services: look at terminal services... it's enabled automatic with a default install
Yes the service may be running but Remote Desktop (available in XP Pro only) will not work unless you allow connections. Connections are disabled by default.
Right-click My Computer and select the Remote tab, you'll see the checkbox to allow/disallow connections.
if i remember correctly, greedy sony refused to license the technology to anyone else, wanting all the profit for themselves. instead they got nothing.
That's a myth, Sony did initially try to license Betamax to JVC and Matsushita. JVC refused because they were preparing their own technology (VHS).
There is no command line option to do this, it cannot be put in a script. You would think it would be NET SHARE... but this doesn't work in Win98. Hence Windows is not completely scriptable.
That maybe true if you're going to limit yourself to batch files. However Windows does come with Windows Scripting Host (yes even Win98). Creating network shares can be done using VBScript or any other WSH supported language.
No, XP just grinds to a slow, numbing halt. Stuff just quits working.
That maybe your experience but it's not mine. In over a year of running XP Pro I've yet to see a BSOD or the slow down you mention and I usually leave my computer on for long periods of time. I've had a few apps crash but they don't take down the OS. As for the UI, it's a matter of personal preference, I don't have any problem with it.
No they don't, it's 4 versus 4. You aren't suggesting that the toy subs at the West Ed Mall (yes I've seen them) are a match for a Victoria class sub. Stop reading the stupid negative Canadian press and do some research.
Granted Germany & Japan were defeated and didn't count but don't forget there was the USSR. Still for a country of 13 million during the war, we put over a million in uniform. Few countries achieved our level of commitment to the war. Sadly our current Armed Forces are a mere shadow of their former selves.

I know you're trying an old joke at we Canadians expense, but the truth is Canada has a strong naval tradition.
Canada's contribution during WWII in the North Atlantic was huge. From escorting transports to hunting U-boats, we kept the shipping lanes open. At the end of the war Canada had the 3rd largest Navy in the world after the US and UK.
And right now, Canadian warships are stopping and boarding anything that moves in the Arabian Sea looking for Taliban and Al Qaida operatives. One of our many contributions to the "war on terrorism".
Yes it is your immagination(sic). Small form-factor PCs pre-date the G4 cube. The G4 cube was a perfect example of form over functionality. May have looked nice on the shelf but was a badly designed computer. I'll take an ugly PC over pretty Mac anyday.
The word innovate was never used, you should first get the quote right. The quote was as dramatic a change for the platform as OS X was for Apple, or NT was for Microsoft. It was a dramatic change for MS, NT was their first 32-bit OS (not counting their work on OS/2).
Bah, here in Calgary, Canada I can watch recent movies from my cable company through my digital terminal set. Only costs $5 and I can watch them anytime and any number of times with 24 hours of ordering. Plus I can pause, rewind and fast-forward. Too cool. Now if they would improve the selection...
a new install every six months is the best way to make sure every thing keeps running well
Uh oh, I'd better find my Windows 2K CD and reinstall Windows, according to you I'm two years overdue!
Oh wait that was a gratuitous MS bash, I get it.
Been running Windows 2000 on a P3/800MHz very well now for 2.5 years.
Oops, correction you where referring to Newdgroups posts. You are right, they always display in HTML but then I never use OE for Newsgroups.
remember that OE _always_ displays the HTML-Version of the post
There is an option in Outlook Express to read all email in plain text only. Which is the setting that I use all the time.

Here's how I've done it:
Before removing the old board, change the IDE controller drivers to something generic like "Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller"
Install new board, boot and let Plug and Play detect the new controller.
This has worked for me on many occasions. Can't help though if the old board is not bootable.

So yes, we have warships.

I'd be interested too as I've yet to see one in the year that I've been running Windows XP.
There has been multiple desktop managers for Windows for years. MS usually included them with the Resource Kits.
Right now I'm using multiple desktops on my Windows XP box. It's a free add-on from Microsoft.
Available here.

Yes that's a typical and uninformed Mac rant.
What you describe works with PCs that come with an ethernet port too. Crappy marketroid software is not required.
What you left out was IP configuration (DHCP or static?) and email setup. The Mac doesn't automatically solve those issues for you.

If Windows XP supports your printer then all you have to do is:
1. Plug it in.
Did you forget that Macs now come with a version of Unix and therefore were grouped in with the other Unixes?
Macs weren't specically mentioned just like FreeBSD wasn't specifically mentioned.
NT 4 is still a supported OS, at least until June 30, 2003.
they are complaining that if you don't have microsoft explore installed, you will have to use additionel 4 hours to get the service pack
Not true, you can use the Express Install. Works fine with Mozilla.
