I LIKE the idea of government. I like the idea of government controlling nutcases, criminals, illegal aliens, and more. What I DO NOT LIKE, is the government infringing on the lives of law abiding citizens.
Government decides who are law abiding citizens and who are criminals.
"she would have been at the hospital 22 years in February, and she's only called out of work four or five times in her whole career , she said."
You know what that tells me? She's one of those people so "dedicated" to their job that they come to work when they are sick.
This pisses me off at my workplace. We get generous sick allowances, FFS use them!! Don't come in coughing and sneezing all over everything. That's just rude. And in a hospital it's practically negligent no matter how often you wash your hands or change your mask.
The jet plane which uses fuel that is priced above market to cover the carbon-offsets he thinks out to be made mandatory? How exactly is that hypocritical?
the options are limited. You can use the same SSID on the various APs (separating channels as mentioned). So long as the clients are all on the same vlan (usually a DHCP scope), it will work reasonably well. Most of the protocols are fairly forgiving. If you have WDS capability, by all means use it.
802.1x adds complications, but if you have a RADIUS type server a WLAN controller should be a more realistic consideration.
"You can be sure that if it wouldn't have been for this leak, this key would never have seen the light of day, only the fear of our work being used by others to make money out of it has forced us to release this now"
So they would never have published it if it had not been leaked?
Seems unlikely, but if it's true then props to the leakers for "forcing" them to release it.
If the discoverers were not interested in making money, why would they not share it?
Yes. For thier edification, life expectancies continue to increase pretty much everywhere in the world except for a few war-torn locales. I see no evidence our food is suddenly going to start to kill us.
Lack of food, of course, kills many people.....just sayin.
So slap a "may contain GMOs" label on everything, and get on with feeding people. It's a much more important problem.
Giving care to everyone without insurance for everyone is just wrecking us, especially because the only care you get while uninsured - emergency care - is the most expensive kind.
While I completely agree with your post, I'd posit that emergency care is in many cases cheaper than preventative care, which is actually part of the problem.
It is certainly the only care you will get for "free", though - treatment for acute but not chronic conditions. If you have a heart attack, they will try to resuscitate you. If you need bypass surgery and have no insurance then you wait for the next heart attack and they will try to resuscitate you again.
I'm not an American and it makes me shake my head in wonderment that such a self professed leading first world country cannot find some way to provide decent health care for all it's citizens. Not just when they come in by ambulance.
Treat your employees well and they will go the extra mile for you when you need them to. Treat them poorly and they will fuck you around every chance they get.
Absolutely right. I used to have an HK91 that I took hunting, before our Canadian laws made it restricted. It was a bit on the heavy side, but it was accurate, had little recoil, and was completely reliable in the mud, snow, sand, +30C or -30C.
I'm sure a lot of/.ers appreciate state-ot-the-art performance in PCs, phones, TVs, cars, cameras, aircraft, etc.
Gun owners find it a useful attribute too. Things that work well are something to strive for.
They are as bought and paid for as politicians in the US. But in the end it's just more stupid laws that will be widely ignored by pretty much everyone. Like so many others.
Just like any other police force, they should never be allowed to investigate their own. Even having a separate "independent" police force investigate does not eliminate "thin blue line" bias.
Picking one from another country is as good as it gets from an objectivity perspective.
Americans (and Canadians) could learn something from the Brits.

He got thanked for finding the flaw. He got expelled for pen testing someone else's system. Two different acts, two different issues.
He should have done one of them anonymously. Seems he was technically capable of doing so.
That would have made him more "ethical", but less ethical.
"All they use the dirt for is to hold the stalks up." Things have gotten worse since his day.
Sounds like hydroponics.
Coming soon to a greenhouse near you.

Often arbitrarily and capriciously.
The part that really annoyed me was;

The clearest conscience money can buy.
$1 coins go in the car center console, and get used for car washes and parking.
$2 coins go in the tray on the dresser and get used for the morning Tim's.
Personally, if we had $5 coins they would be spent pretty much exactly the same way as $5 bills.
Nickels, dimes, pennies, quarters go in the pail. Once there are a few hundred dollars worth they get returned to the bank.

I avoid ethanol blended gas like the plague. There really is nothing good about it.
For like minded Canadians, it's worth noting "Shell V-Power premium gasoline in Canada does not contain ethanol".
http://www.shell.ca/en/products-services/on-the-road/fuels/shell-vpower.html
it's also rated as a top-tier gas. http://www.toptiergas.com/
It's also terribly wrong to force someone else to live by your choices.
No doubt you do have to live with the choices of the world's other 8 billion people, but nobody is forcing you to do anything at all.
Try Qik

It does exactly that.
Not an issue unless one is looking for eFame.

Suing them on your own is beyond the financial ability of most people.
However, if they do this to enough people - legion, as it were - it becomes a lot easier to take them on.

First rule of management;
Treat your employees well and they will go the extra mile for you when you need them to. Treat them poorly and they will fuck you around every chance they get.

0-60 is a good measure of overall acceleration capability
If you think of a car as an appliance and don't care about performance, then get a Prius or a Volt. Way cheaper, plenty of range.
Car enthusiasts do care about performance. My 335i puts a big smile on my face every time I drive it, and I use that acceleration regularly.
I could see myself one day in something like a Model S. Or if I could ever afford it, an i8

They are, in effect, the safety police.
