Given that Minis are built by BMW, I'm guessing your system is very much the same as iDrive.
I own a BMW with the current generation of iDrive, and it is much better than the first incarnations. The control knob quickly becomes intuitive. The current level of iPhone integration is very good. The BMW Connected and BMW Remote apps work as advertised.
I'm not an Apple fanboi, I would not own one if they could not be easily jailbroken, so I'm not thrilled at the idea of an entirely Apple based infotainment system, but I do appreciate a system that integrates well, hopefully with many types of smartphones.
I's be very uncomfortable running an RDP terminal server exposed to the internet. I highly recommend tunneling over SSH.
I use OpenSSH on my (jailbroken) iPhone, and the free 2X RDP client to connect remotely into my home Windows machine. I assume there are SSH apps from the App Store that will let you set up tunneling as well.
The screen is still too small to do any real work (would be better on an iPad or other tablet), but it's OK for quickly checking up on things and is pretty responsive on 3G.
Carrying a smart phone is far easier than carrying a cell phone....and a GPS, and a music player, and a digital still/video camera, and a PDA, and a portable game device......
I do have enough pockets in the cargo pants I usually wear for all of those things, but combining them into one also leaves me room for a wallet, pocketknife, keys, papers, change, etc
I use an old Cisco 2912XL-EN switch to connect my home network and collect SNMP stats from it. You can pick these up cheap on Ebay, but any enterprise class switch that supports SNMP will work. Gig switches will be pricier, though. I collect data from all the ports, so I can see both aggregate traffic on the firewall internal and external interfaces (on different vlans), as well as traffic from individual PCs, servers, or other IP devices.
Obviously this requires having a computer running all the time to do the polling, but I have a few of those already anyway. PRTG (for Windows) or MRTG (for *nix) are a couple of good free collectors, but I am sure there are many more as well.
The line between parody and impersonation is very much a matter for legal discussion.
You want to make fun of GM or IBM on a website, have at it. You want to pose as an official GM or IBM website, I would expect you to not last long.
All they really needed to do was include "sucks" in their URL.............
After some research, it seems that that feature is only available if you have already been flagged for excessive usage, it does not show up in my account.
I might consider asking them to enable it for me, which apparently you can do, but I don't know if I might just be attracting unnecessary attention.....
The Conservatives will find a way to make the vote a matter of confidence, the Liberals will fold, and that will be that.
Except people like me, who have voted for them the last few elections because we want tougher laws for violent crimes, support the Afghan war (the one that actually has something to do with 9/11), want an end to the long gun registry, and support senate reform, will not vote for them any more. I just can't support this. I can overlook the big spending and lack of transparency, but this directly impacts a lot of people.
I still can't stand Dion, so the best they can hope is I will abstain. But even that will still cost them. I doubt the CRIA types will gain them enough votes to make up from the ones they lose from the entire Ipod generation(s).
And I will be sure to let them know my opinion in no uncertain terms.
Likewise.
It's a BMW. The driving experience puts a smile on my face every time I drive it.
Facebook and Twitter are the last things on my mind.

You should be happy you have government vetted pedophiles protecting you from potential kiddie terrorists!
from their governments. Everywhere. They are not your friend.
Strong crypto, anonymizing proxies, onion routing....
It's not just for users in China and Iran anymore.

must have given him some new ideas to incorporate into this legislation.
Good thing for onion routing and anonymous proxies. They are not just for users in China and Iran any more............

Otherwise I'd need a backpack.
If you have a functioning, pre 4.3.4 iOS, even if Apple has stopped signing it.

is that like with the events leading up to 9/11, various government entities still don't share information with other ones.
Until they fix that (isn't that what DHS was supposed to be for?) Iran is the least of their problems.
.... it seems to me is that RIM has actually already agreed to pull the app (from a link in the OP article : http://www.ibtimes.com/articles/126130/20110323/rim-research-in-motion-dui-checkpoint.htm ).
I've already ruled out Apple for my next handheld as I don't want to be tied to only what they approve of.
I think my decision of whether to go with Android or Blackberry has just been made for me as well.
"And people still like to buy big, heavy cars that can accelerate to 60 mph in less than four seconds."
Sure, I'd like a 911 Turbo or a 458 Italia, but the roads are not exactly teeming with them.
CO2 absorbs infrared radiation
LOL. Yeah, that's extraordinary in elementary school.
If we were dealing with a jar in a lab you would have my vote.
As Carl Sagan once said, extraordinary claims demand extraordinary proof.
Yes. And when neither side has any, then what?
Legalized pot will result in more people using, more people abusing, and all the problems that implies.
Do you actually believe that anyone who wants to smoke pot refrains from doing so because it's illegal?

Probably a lot more law enforcement agencies use that than COFEE.
Why can't I call my car and tell it to start and run the heater or air?
You obviously don't live in Canada.
Everyone does that here.
Twitpay sounds quite aptly named.

Shaw has a site where you can track your usage? Where do I find that?
