Apple said screw the business market, we will snag them when they go home. Apple will control the entertainment market. TV content will still suck, but its delivery will be "insanely great."
Back in the 90's I was told by an Apple insider to learn MkLinux because that is the way the Mac OS is going. He also said that if MS is successful in killing Apple, everyone was going over to Linux.
When OSX hit the market I was ready and waiting for a chance to play around with the UNIX tools. I use Links, Scribus, GIMP, Pico, and Inkscape quite often. Those were the Linux apps I used the most. If you like playing in the UNIX/Linux world, OSX has a window into it right there in the/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.
I am not a gamer, I am not a bean counter so Windows is not essential to me. I chose the OS with the most appealing interface and the company that seemed to be friendly to the creative arts. Mac OS just seems to demand less of me than Windows. The interface seemed more appealing to the eye. MS still hasn't learned to be subtle. Their look is cartoonish and angular. They really need someone with an artist's eye to design the look and feel of the interface.
That's what it comes down to: what suits you best.
Apple had to make some concessions to get the record companies to go along with licensing to iTunes/iPod. The record companies were sure they were going to be used for pirating. Apple had to give them some assurances to get the record companies to sign on.
Good workaround, sure. As long as the record companies are happy, let's not burst their delusional bubble.
It's not what you do, it's how you do it. The MS way- user experience is compromised by the desire of MS to maximize profits and control. The Apple Way- make it easy to use, trouble free and with style and the profits will follow.
leaving the Republicans. I have several Libertarian friends, two right leaning, one in the Chomsky mode. The two right leaning voted Republican until this election. One right leaning Libertarian even worked for Democracy For America alongside us Democratic activist. He helped the campaign of what is now the first woman to be elected to the state Supreme Court.
The Dems aren't perfect, but they are not obsessed with our sex lives or if we use an occasional four letter word in public.
One of the strategies of the neo cons is to create chaos then capitalize on that chaos. They did it in Florida in 2000 and Ohio in 2004.
Their only hope is to create chaos nationwide. The only way they can do that is with massive failures of the voting system and creating chaos through aggressive challenging at the polls.
There is an agenda behind the programming, and it is not delivering a solid, secure voting system. It is insecure by design.
Remember Rep Peter King (R NY) said during the voting on Nov 2 2004 "It's already over. The election's over. We won.... It's all over but the counting, and we'll take care of the counting." He said it during a picnic on the White house lawn.
Alex Pelosi's new film "Diary of a Political Tourist" catches a tipsy Congressman Peter King making a comment at a White House function before the election had been finished that, "It's already over. The Election's over. We Won." When Pelosi asks, "How do you know that?" King replies, "It's all over but the counting. And we'll take care of the counting." ~~~~~~~~~~~~end quote
James Baker III bragged to Russian businessmen after the 2000 election about fixing the election for Bush in Florida.
"I fixed the election in Florida for George Bush." James Baker, Bush family lawyer speaking before a crowd of Russian businessmen.
Wasn't it a few years ago PC makers products had a 11% defect rate. I wonder what the percentage is for the full Intel Mac line, and what was it during the PPC years?
I never buy the first off the line. Rev B or C is usually worth waiting for.
You would too if you have recently battled Pancreatic Cancer.
He was talking with developers, not the general public at the WWDC. His products were more of interest to developers than the unwashed masses. Will Suzie homemaker want to shell out 24 hundred for the Mac Pro, or would she rather have an iMac? This conference wasn't for her or her market.
I find the announced features of Leopard interesting. I know many more will be announced when the product is released next year. There's no use telling the world all the new bells and whistles of Leopard. We want MS to wait until 10.5 is released. We don't want them to try to copy something before it is released. I'm sure it will be included in the much anticipated 2012 release of Vista. (barring any last minute glitches)
Every story is a retelling of an older story. Look at "Being There." One of my all time favorites. All it is is a remake of "Tartuffe The Imposter." Sometimes it is how you tell the story. They told it well.
Not sure where "Porky's Revenge" came from, not sure I want to go there.
Independent Film Channel (IFC) and the Sundance Channel.
You will see movies that put the story first. The big studios are too cautious, too conservative, too often. Ever wonder what happened to Henry Rollins? He's on IFC.
My first radio started as a schematic. It was a crystal radio. I later added a tuner made out of wire, a toilet paper roll and a piece of scrap metal. The earphone was WWII army surplus. It sat on my night stand and I would lay in bed and listen.
Since bush has taken office they have been classifying information that before was public information. This info in most cases have no national security significance. It is of interests to the academic. Much of our history is now out of our reach due to the desire to replace our history with their neo conservative definition of our past.
Also the EPA library will soon be shut away from the public. We paid for that info, now we will have to pay for it again, assuming that we will have any access. national weather service hurricane info is being privatized too.

Until that is fixed, I can't use it. Other than that, it works well. As long as I don't have to edit my e-mail it is not a problem, but trying to change anything in the body of the text is impossible.

I don't give a shit what OS it runs as long as it works every time and is secure.
I did hear rumors of OSX for embedded devices.
Of course we hear all types of rumors about Apple.
I believe nothing about what is being released until John Mayer sings.

I kid you not.
It gives me visual cues to what app is behind the front application.

Jobs could be introducing a new generation iPod. We won't know for sure until he says "One more thing."
He knows you are only good as what you have in the pipeline.
Reminds me of what Chet Atkins said about writing.
"Good writers borrow. Great writers steal."
Chances are, he stole the quote, but Chet Atkins was The guitar god. He can be forgiven.
Of course he probably orginated this observation:
When watching K D Lang perform on the TV at Brown's diner he says, "She's eaten more pussy that Porter Wagoner."

Still it isn't as mindless as the usual tripe that you see at the multiplex.

maybe MS is now realizing that Jobs did an end run around them.
Didn't the creator of Visual Basic disavow what it has become under MS's heavy hand?
You're jaded

Oh yeah, greg the bunny. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greg_the_bunny
The sundance has some ass kicking movies too. google the sundance channel and look at the schedule.
Kiss me and I'll tell you.

checks for affected veterans. bush is going to take money out of food stamps and education to pay for it.
He's not going to cut any of the huge tax cut he gave his billionaire buddies. Kids will have to pay for it.
What an asshole!
I do not believe for one minute that they found the laptop.
