The earth will replenish until the plate tetonics stop, or if we pull a Venus with runaway global warming.
Mass starvation and disease will cull the herd before we get to the point of using everything up. Africa is already getting hit hard with AIDS. Add to the the destablizing effect that will have.
As a species we always used up our local resources and moved on. Looks like we are running out of places to go.
I have been living in a Microsoft free house since 1995. I don't need it, I don't want it infesting my home.
Computing was supposed to give us freedom, but MS wants to use the computer to control us.
with the spector of this country becoming a police state, we must question the intrusive nature of MS and its cosy relationship with Ashcroft and other agents of dictatorial control.
I have friends in the intelligence community, they are rejecting MS products, turning to Linux and BSD for their personal use. I would suggest you follow their lead.
BTW, this is being posted on a G4 running OSX and Xwindows. There is no MS software infesting this machine.
I have been with YDL since 1.2. I have strayed to other distros, but keep coming back. YDL works well, and delivers good value. They have even relieved me from RPM hell by including apt-get. I am grateful.
I will upgrade in time, but 2.2 works so well, I see no need.
I am a OSX fanatic, but have not and will not abandon Linux.

Oh no! I have Linux on my Mac!. Where do I go from here?? I'm so scared. mommy?
Of course if you are friends with the owner of the screwdriver shop, the deals are sweet.
Our suburban neighborhood has a mod shop staffed with UNIX/Linux, pierced, pinned, painted goths who know how to make em fly. Pass a bud to them and you get more RAM.
Tonight I went to CompUSA. there was not one person looking at the PC's, but there were five guys freaking on a Cinema display attached to a 1gig dual G4. Nothing near as exciting is going on at HP and eMachine. I didn't see them drooling over a Vaio either.
Is there any other product outside Linux/UNIX/OSX that is even remotely interesting now? Slashdot is going to reflect what they are interested in at this time.
My wife, the ultimate technophbe, is now getting her intro into OSX. She loves it. She's a gamer, and will stand behind me and clear her throat, and shuffle around, hoping to irritate me enough so she can play Tony Hawk on my machine. She even knows some commandline commands. She love cal. Prebinding and top makes her swoon. She loves watching the characters flash by.
I will have to get her her own G4 so she will leave me to my machine.
You sound bitter. Acne and rejection are all part of growing up. Hang tough bro.
That was for the 2000 election when things were up in the air as to who would win.
Things have changed Since Ashcroft tried to hand the remaining 5% of the market to Gates.
1. In the meantime, does the Department of Justice read the newspaper?
2. What are they thinking??!!
1. Only the Washington Times.
2. They were thinking of all the money given to the Republican party by Microsoft.
I do things on linux that I wouldn't risk on my OSX. If YellowDog goes up in flames, I just reinstall.
What I learn in Linux can be and will be applied to OSX.
Linux is OSX's lab rat. Many years ago the guys at Apple suggested we try MkLinux or LinuxPPC to get an idea of what to expect with the new MacOSX.
Also there was danger that Gates was going to kill Apple over QuickTime. Linux was seen as a refuge for us who refuse to bow before King Bill.
and there will be no nags, for a couple years.
No telling what else it does without your permission. Remember the WMP, Passport, XP EULA.
Yes, I read the Aplle EULAs
There is no comparison. Toast crashes iTunes burns. Screw Roxio.
I don't burn much, just back ups. Mostly I just copy to my drive for the convenience of using iTunes at my puter.

Since DOS has been dropped, they have to do something.
I see other vets turning to Linux too.

the girls are cuter at Bongo Java. Why watch cartoons when you can drink coffee, watch pretty women and be in the presence of the Nun Bun.

Put a link to mozilla in your e-mail, at BBS's, anywhere you think your writing will be read.
Get the word out as best you can.
apt-get, and Fink are fine with me. RPM too often leads to dependency hell.
BTW, YellowDog Linux now has apt-get as alternative to YUP.
Love it. Got Gnome running along with Aqua. Maybe KDE3 someday soon.
No, BSD is not dead. Try OSX.
We need to make sure people have the link to Mozilla as their signature. It should be part of their e-mail too.
Would you go to work for Apple if they wanted you to work on their Darwin project? If yes, explain and likewise if the answer is no.
Carbon tetrahydrate. It was also used to read the watermarks on stamps. nasty stuff.
My dad had some of those glass bombs in his shop.

There's a geek in there somewhere.
Gnome is nice on Darwin, and OSX. Downhill? NFW
