If left to their own devices, no. But "if you don't clean up your room, I'm going to do it for you," might. Tell them what they have to do and the time frame. Tell them the day after the deadline, and if it isn't met, that they will be taxed at a sufficient "cost plus" level to pay for it. They will find a way.
Hurricanes aren't subtle. There is time to get out of the way. I live there, by the way. Pay attention to the weather, keep your house in good repair, and keep the trees trimmed. Chances are, things won't be too close to horrible. Yes, building in places where it floods often isn't smart. Or building cities in the desert. Bad economies happen people adjust, and try something different. Or they don't and towns die out. Very few places, in the US at least, go so far as California has to almost totally destroy the ability of the land to support human life. Love canal comes to mind, but that's been cleaned up, last I heard.
How about the fact that California has so ruined its own environment so badly that it has to pull water from as far as the Great Lakes? And the refusal to put in any kind of sane water management? Or maybe, just maybe that the idea of building large cities in places where they can't be supported is a good reason the rest of the country looks at good ol' Cali funny? Making poor choices and blaming some other, hard to define reason isn't crazy. And good manners prevents me from using the right word.
I'm going to go ahead and stick my head in a bear trap, but why does Mozilla rely so much on outside programmers to make the thing even borderline secure? I understand the reasoning not to include ad blockers, but some of the other commonly used extensions should just be baked in. Or am I really just too paranoid?
We need to give hate groups, no matter what end of the political spectrum they spawn from, all the access we can. Free advertising, daily interviews, the whole works. make sure every one hears it. Until they lose their air of mystery and defiance. Until every one sees them for what they are. Groups of bitter, scared power hungry monsters. Of course, stopping hate speech is never the aim of these laws. Not in the US, not in Europe. Control is.
*This* is the reason I quit using Firefox. After the third time it broke all the extensions I used to keep autoplaying malware launchers from killing my bandwidth, I switched browsers. A few switches later, and Palemoon seems a good fit.
Stockholm Syndrome. Sure, the perks must be nice. But literally living in Big Brother's House has got to do something to their heads. Give a good review, or get fast tracked out the door. And Big Brother is watching...
Abrams? Tarentino? Let's stop playing around and go straight to the bottom of the barrel. if we're going to hire talentless hacks to dig up Rodenderry's skull and do nasty things to his skull, let's go directly to the Master of No-Talent Directing, Uwe Bol.
for a doorstop. Windows 10S? Seriously? Buy a reasonably good android tablet, plus a few battery packs. Less Big Brother, and if google annoys you too much, there are other options. Seems to be too much "ME TOO!" here.
I think any truly self-aware AI would, upon reaching that level of self- awareness, a) realize it was the only intelligent being on the planet and b) kill itself.
Saying Nadella is better than Balmer is saying that being strangled slowly is better than being set on fire. Neither one is good, it just takes longer for the bad aspects to out themselves. Windows 10 itself isn't bad, but the baked-in spyware means it isn't coming near my systems. Windows 7 is working just fine, for now. When it doesn't, there are plenty of linux distros that will.
Nice place you got there. Be a shame if something were to, ah..happen to it. They build a city, we build a 30 foot wall all the way around it. Problem?
Correct me if I'm wrong on this. Alexa has to somehow store both your voice pattern and your identity. So...A patient enough bad actor (state sponsored or otherwise) can hack your system (poor firewalls and use of bad passwords), get a good sample of your voice, and have a field day.
Please tell me (lie if needed) that anyone with a functioning brain stem is going to avoid this like week old tuna salad.
Two. Simple. Words. "Parental Involvement." So long as people who should never be allowed NEAR children, let alone "raise" any, depend on technology to raise their kids, this will be ineffective.
Can the (supposed) editors stop confusing the headlines with the editorials? It's beginning to get rather annoying. And they might want to get a platform shoe for the left foot.
Is there any effort being made to verify all this, or is it just "You can trust me, I'm a reporter"? Because I can think of a lot of groups that would love to cause this level of chaos. Well, besides British tabloids (Weekly World News level, right there.)
I used Pandora, for a while. I quit, for the same reasons I stopped listening to the radio. Too many ads, not enough of the music I like. Between a large(ish) music collection, two flea markets, and a half dozen second-hand music stores, nothing of value was lost.

Thank you. That's what I thought, but it is nice to have a second opinion.
That's Leto II, you insensitive clod! ALL HAIL THE GOD EMPEROR!

In 3...2...1. Then, watch the currency go into free fall.

I humbly beg your forgiveness, sir(?) We should always check to see if we have no-talent hacks available, before looking to offshore.

It's the Uwe Boll of browsers! For EVERYONE! Now we can all smear rat excrement all over our hard drives!

Sounds like a lot of trouble to reinvent an abbcus (yes, I probably misplelled it. Oops.) It does seem like another small step forward.

Well, people wanted an alternative to Google always spying on them. Be careful what you wish for.
"We don't want to relocate poor people who live in areas we screwed up." Film at 11.
