This did happen on at least one of the planes. Unfortunately, I think that the hijackers disabled the transponders on the planes when they took control of the cockpits. But the FBI was investigating at least one possible hijacking that morning before the crashes, due to a signal from the plane.
I find it much easier to find stuff that's been strewn over my desk. Whenever I file it away in a meaningful fashion, it's too much effort to go and find it. Also, out of sight, out of mind...
Don't. They haven't changed their policy, but the policy makes things very difficult for OSS drivers for the new chipset, which relies much more on the components that require the NDA.
Now, if I'm misinterpreting things, then I feel like an ass.
The last thing we want to do to future Martian colonists is send over all the vermin first! At least give them a few years of life without the roaches and mice...
A Song of Fire and Ice, by George R. R. Martin, is the most different from "group of overpowered heroes slaughter orcs and save the world" that I've read. I'm also a fan of the Thomas Covenant series'. They are closer to that formula than Martin's work, but I found it sufficiently imaginative.
Being surprized is irrelevant to the issue of protesting the existence and enforcement of bad laws. The anti-"subversion" laws in China are worse than the DMCA, and do indeed deserve worldwide protest, China's autonomy notwithstanding.
Newsweek also had a sympathetic article on August 20 - "Busted by the Copyright Cops". (You need to register to read the online version of the article.)
I agree with you. I was just offering an explanation for the complaints, not agreeing with them. One nitpick - I'd put game control in the 'engine' category.
It's kinda funny that a lot of people looked at the new Mario title and said "It's disappointing because it just looks like Mario64 but prettier" and then complained when the new Zelda didn't look like Ocarina only prettier.
That's partially because Mario is an action game, dependant upon the engine, while Zelda is an RPG, more dependant upon the story.
Now, a student's purse or backpack would be a different story but even then I could see an argument in favor of searches. Airport security is allowed to search your bags and if you don't like it you can leave.
My old high school now does that one better. Children now must have a clear plastic or mesh backpack or purse. ___
I had a Leatherman with me just about every day of High School, and used it occasionally. If I hadn't been a "good student", I could easily have been expelled. In addition, I had to bring a scalpel to school for Biology class. This is now against the zero tolerance policy. ___
I live 2 blocks from NBC, 3 from CBS, and 6 from FOX. They all come in crappy over cable, since the cable system acts as an ineficient antenna, which interferes with the cable broadcast of the same channel (they're on the same channel number on each). Luckily, when routed through my VCR, channels 90-93 duplicate the networks, without the interference... An amusing undocumented feature.
The trouble is with the way Congress is structured. Power is allocated by seniority. Therefore, once a district has a senior senator, they lose influence if that senator is not reelected. And too many people view it as a competition, so they are willing to keep a corrupt person in power, as long as it's their corrupt person in charge of the others. ___
"The Tree of Liberty must be watered with the blood of patriots." + "The goal of a soldier is not to die for your country, but to make the other poor bastard die for his." = Dmitry Sklyarov ___
My problem with it was that many of his bizarre behaviors could have been explained by the three laws, if only he hadn't broken all three. However, it's not a big issue - it's a different world, and you can postulate different reasons for his behaviors. ___

Excel has had 3D for years. First, there was a DOOM clone, then a flight simulator.
One analogy: Using a McDonald's bathroom without buying any food.

Didn't you ever hear Caesar's quote, "All Gauls are to be divided into three parts"?

And they don't even have "Mini-Me" going for them.

Qualcomm is a big meanie with crappy business practices.
Just out of curiosity, what does this mean? Are Coke and Dr. Pepper supposed to be more 'southern'?
___
Are the two mutually exclusive?

Ah, but the Superman in the movies also had the ability to gain a new superpower whenever the need arose.
