The insult wasn't the Wal-Mart->Redneck implication, it was the DeerHunter->Redneck one. "All people who play Deer Hunter are rednecks" is at least halfway valid.
AT&T Strikes again, I'm surprised they haven't bought PARC and closed it down too.
Brilliant witticism! What jerks the guys at AT&T are for closing down something it wouldn't have been profitable to maintain. If only one of the slashdot editors had been there, maybe they could have helped save it. Let's have a gander, shall we:
AT&T Exec: Hmmm, looks like the lawyers drilled us, we can't afford to keep open that lab, we'll have to shut it down. AT&T Employee/Slashdot Editor: No way MAN!! That place is COOL. You can't just like, shut it down, man. AT&T Exec: You're fired.
6 months go by and the SE has not found another job....
Slashdot Editor's wife at work: Wife: Hey MyBoss, looking good today, with a job and all. Boss: Motel 6 at the corner of Cherry and Shamrock, room 35, 7pm. Wife: You betcha!
SE's kid: Kid: Mommy, how come you have a lot of meetings at the hotel with your boss? Mom/Wife: Because your father is a limp-dicked loser and mommy needs some real play. Kid: Daddy's a loser! Yay!
Later: SE/Dad: Hey kid, wanna do something fun with me? Kid: No way, you're a limpdick! I like mommy's new friend more, he gives REAL play mommy said. We're leaving tomorrow. No one likes you, not even your stuffed penguin.
Well folks, there you have it. Put on some shoes, clean the ejaculatory emissions off the keyboard and get a real job in the real world.
"I'm Kent Brockman, on the eleven o'clock news tonight... a certain kind of soft drink has been found to be lethal, we won't tell you which one until after sports and the weather with funny Sonny Storm."
The author intended for it to shutdown iis first, then the remote machine,
but he is actually issuing the iis shutdown command twice. Examine:
my $resp = $ua->request ($iis_stop_req);
if ($resp->is_success) {
my $server_stop_req = [...]
$resp = $ua->request ($iis_stop_req);
That second request should be $server_stop_req instead of $iis_stop_req
Now to fiddle with httpd.conf.....
WOW SLASHCODE SUCKS, I couldn't submit this at first because it was
considered a junk character post. That filter really sucks, I've triggered
that so many times trying to do an actual post.
I got a sizeable stock option package a few years ago and had no idea what to do with it because I had always been a programmer and had no clue how to deal with the complex financial and tax issues. I knew that options could make you rich, but I also knew that they could break you if you didn't know the tax implications of exercising them at certain times. I eventually found optionwealth. They are very, very in depth and thorough and take into account every last detail about what might affect the value of your options. I use their services and have been quite happy. They had me enter in all the information I knew about my grant and they tell me practical things like when I should exercise how many based on the performance of the market and the volatility of my company's stock. I've found that a lot of other sites have a lot of articles about different types of options and what to do with them but I never really knew how to apply the information to my grant because it would always be a little different than any of the ones mentioned.
Give it a try, hopefully you like it as much as I do.
I remember all the time having study sessions, or 'work sessions' with friends in a class. If there was a big paper to write, we would all get
together and discuss the issues, really hash them out together until we knew them. It would be inevitable that we would probably end up with
some of the same phrases on our papers. Someone probably said something memorable that really clicked with us all, so we all end up writing
the exact same words, or very similar ones.
I go to uva (it blows haha), and for this type of thing you have to pledge (On my honor as a student I have neither given nor received any aid on this exam) and sign it. If you wrote that on a piece of work that was created in a group study section, you're tossed.
This sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen if they expel ANYONE
There was a girl who graduated from UVa a few years ago and last year wrote a bad check in Charlottesville. The store owner reported to uva that an alumni had written him a bad check. So guess what they did - revoked her degree. They said they didnt want their alumni to be giving the town a bad image of the school. So of course, she sued, and lost. About every week there is an article in the school paper about someone who got kicked out and is suing the school but they never win.
Am I the only one thats just a little tired of napster?
The heart of this battle isn't about napster, it's about the people being sick and tired of the riaa's bullying and artifical price inflation. If you're sick and tired for fighting your rights as a consumer, move to china where you have no rights.
I stopped caring the day they became a company and took a dollar
Then you should still be caring.... they have yet to bring in any revenue whatsoever.
Napster can be good for independant artists
Normally I don't bitch about spelling errors, but if you are going to bust on other people for their choice of words you had damn well better make sure your own post is error-free.
Back on track, I feel that if some greedy VCs and possibly Shawn Fanning himself didn't try to turn Napster into a cash cow
Back on track, once again, napster has had $0 in revenue.
Please educate yourself a little more before you make a heated post.
If you had done any background reading before posting about something you didn't know, you would see that people requested that mandrake set up a donations page.

I wish he would have I'd have dropped his ass with my.45 as soon as he stepped foot on my property.
You can't shoot someone for coming on to your property without either
a) Warning them first
b) Them openly attempting to directly harm you
My son was getting picked on in school and got into a fight with another student. That other student's father is a pretty big low-life and pulled up into our yard with his huge truck, really fucking up the lawn and stuff. Got out and came and pounded on the door. I leaned out the 2nd story window and popped him in the ass (literally) with a.22. 6 months for that shit you believe it?
I don't see anywhere that the source code is linked to as the brief claims. Can someone point it out to me or did she pull the link in fear of getting a lawsuit herself? I'd imagine that she would have agreed to let them link to her site in the brief. It would be a real blow to the argument if she pulled the rug out from under them.

No, the beta releases of KDE 2.0 WERE important because 2.0 was an entire new version. I might have switched the terms 'version' and 'revision', but you know what I'm trying to say. The beta of KDE 2.1, which adds only a few new features, is NOT important.

Because that was a beta release for a revision for a desktop environment that some people use. This XFree86 release is stable and affects (pretty much?) all of us running linux as a desktop.
Haha, check out the responses you've gotten. I started to write the same kind of shit a while ago until I read your message again. Haha. At least I was just ALMOST retarded (yeah yeah wide open door here) and not FULLY retarded like these people.
If you check appwatch, you'll see that 2.2.18 has been available for quite some time, maybe you should check to make sure your information is correct before you go flaming.
Oh if that's true... give the 7.x series a shot. Mandrake 6.0 was my first experience with linux and wasn't terribly pleasant (but not too bad), but I figured that's how linux just is... I had no idea. Then I tried 7.1 and everything worked perfectly. Give it another shot... it's worth it.
Looks to me like these comments are going to get a bad enough prediction to have someone else from Redhat to "clarify" them. There have been many predictions about how "when linux goes mainstream, the masses will think that redhat invented linux, just like they think microsoft invented the internet", and this comment strikes a little too close to that for most people's comfort.
Also, when slashdotters (I'm not saying all) bash redhat, the people that stand up for redhat say "come on, they're not bad, it's human nature to try to take out the leader." But when the leader gets arrogant and starts taking credit where credit is NOT due (a la microsoft), it might be time to take them out.
How usable is woody as a desktop? I might have to switch....

But she isn't (contrary to popular belief) and George Lucas isn't going to do this. Move along people.
Who is the character that has most ruined a movie?
A) Jar-Jar in Phantom Menace
B) Anakin in Clones
C) The black girl in Mission Impossible 2
