    Looks like it uses a gas stream as a laser waveguide... Perhaps a noble gas, like Argon. That would account why there appears to be a force upon the melted debris.

    if you listen to the narrator he says exactly what the "gas stream" is. Air. Its just blowing air out to move the slag out of the way.

    I havn't tried Duplin's, but I've found the wines from Hinnant Family Vineyard are amazingly delicious. They're over in Pine Level, just off 70 or 95, depending on where you're coming from. They have a great selection, and a bar set up for tasting their selections before you choose a bottle. Or two. or three.

    Disable your page file and then see if you get errors. I disable mine because I have very limited hdd space. you WILL get errors in win7 if you do that. Its memory handling is atrocious.

    And yet on my windows 7 rig with 6gb, I get memory out errors playing memory intensive games like minecraft and TOR, and my windows 8 rig with 6gb just hums right along. 500mb makes a world of difference.

    500mb less baseline ram footprint is a huge difference, I don't know what kind of drugs you're on. And, while the metro UI is pointless, its no where near as hindering as you say. in some ways its more functional than the old start menu, though I prefer the old start menu due to 19 years of working with it.

    Meh. Even without Start8 or the like, the metro UI goes away with one click. The mild annoyance of the metro screen is more than offset by the far better performance of Win8.

    or they could have the same thing that most people who use windows 8 seriously use. A simple program that removes the metro interface and gives back the old start menu, making Windows 8 sleeker than windows 7, with a smaller memory footprint, and overall a much better OS.

    To an extent. Full disk encryption when its not necessary is unnecessary paranoia. But preppers take that paranoia to an extreme. Like having an entire arsenal that can be used for shooting up a school.

    Its been reported that she was a "prepper." So there's an underlying mental illness going on there. Preparing for the end of the world is not something sane and rational people do.

    I don't mean to sound callous, but for the most part, keeping people alive as an ER nurse isn't advancing humanity as a whole. Yes, your grandmother was a great person for doing it. But in the grand scheme of things, unless she saved the life of someone "important", she had no lasting mark on humanity, and you say yourself that she wasn't that important "(county hospital in rural area)", aka somewhere where she did a lot of good for people, but not a lot of good for humanity. Not to say that her job isn't important to people, but its not important to humanity as a whole except in a few off cases.

    No offense, but its a matter of scale. This man was famous for good reason. Your grandmother, while I'm sure you loved her very much, did not advance humanity in any way, otherwise she too would have been mourned in the news. Yes human culture's celebrity worship is excessive 99% of the time, but this is one of the cases where we as a species have genuinely lost someone of great import.

    You're forgetting that Microsoft charges 10000-30000 to push a patch. Its not something that most publishers want to do unless they absolutely have to.

    Ignoring the fact that the USPS is only broke because Congress is trying to kill it by forcing them to pre-pay 75 years worth of pensions. Without the pre-paid 75 years worth of pensions, USPS is running at better margins than the publicly owned couriers.

    To use Direct X 10/11, which is superior both graphically and performance-wise, you need Vista or 7.

    etrade only charges a 9.99 fee transaction fee. I got in 10 shares at 40, so 410 dollars overall. as long as you arnt buying/selling willy nilly, its not expensive.

    The PSP in general is the best selling non-Nintendo handheld, ever. Its a pretty big accomplishment. Sony has quite a big clue as to what they're doing, and are scaring the pants off Nintendo while they do it (See: Nintendo price dropping the 3DS a week after announcing that the Vita launch price is == 3ds launch price, well before nintendo normally price drops.)
