    Conspiracy theorists are NOT skeptics.

Which is the more complex and unlikely scenario: the Apollo program occured as "conventional wisdom" says it does, or the whole thing was faked with thousands upon thousnads of people involved, fake unmanned space craft travelling from Earth orbit to lunar orbit replying to radio chatter from Earth, fake moon rocks good enough to fool the best geologists around the world etc. etc.

Given the technology of the day it would be HARDER to fake the landings then to do it for real, not to mention the huge numbers of people involved staying quiet.

True skeptics don't automaticaly beleive everything they are told, but they are also able to logicaly analyze the evidence before them. No skeptic would beleive that the moon landings were faked.

  11. Its easy on New Closed Source Voting Systems Malfunction · · Score: 2

Its easy to make a voting proces that works: print pieces of paper with the candidates names on them. The voter goes into a private area or "booth" and makes a mark by the candidate of their choice. These peices of paper or "ballots" are kept in a secure location until the voting period ends. They are then counted with representitives of the candidates and members of the public present.

This radical system is already in use in such exotic places as The UK, Canada and Australia. This system tends to be more accurate than mechanical devices and less open to fraud. The proces can also be completed in a matter of hours.

In large land movements large segments of the surface can move along with the slide and remain intact, I would have thought that this would be more likely under water than above.

The teams are alowed to have different engine mappings for different rpms/engine conditions. The mappings must be consistent but not necessarily linear. What they do is measure the air pressure in the intake plenum/air box of the car, this gives them a rough idea of the car's speed (they aren't alowed measure wheel spin directly) with the air pressure and engine rpm known, they can essentialy determine when the conditions match that of the standing start and use the engine mapping to essentialy reduce engine power and therefore wheel spin at the start of the race.

Even if the ISS takes up half of NASA's budget thats 0.5% of the (roughly) 66% of the budget that comes from income tax. So maybe 0.33% of the total amount of what you have paid in Federal Income tax is up there. Most of your money has gone to pay the interest on Reagan's debt and for $90 hammers.
