Additionally, legalization will allow users to know exactly WHAT is in the pot their buying.
Why would Joe Potsmoker want to go buy from some random dealer down the street and have to guess to the quality and contents, whereas if it were legal nobody would pick a dealer over going down to the store and picking some up that you know for sure is good quality and has met the regulations laid out by the authoritative body assigned to do so.
I am a daily smoker. I have graduated college, I have a great job, I support my family. I pay taxes, I donate to charities. I help others when I am able. Yet, in the eyes of Uncle Sam, I am a horrible person that deserves incarceration for my unspeakable acts against my country and people. It is a fucking joke. Anslinger drug (pun intended) MJ through the mud with scare tactics and blatant lies. Not one justification for making it illegal given by Anslinger or the government at that time held any water.
There is no logical, scientific, or rational reason to maintain the illegal, SCHEDULE 1 (same as the hard drugs, i.e. heroin, crack cocaine, etc.) classification that the government has on MJ.
Oh? Are they releasing 100% compatible versions of Windows XP, IE6, and Microsoft Office? I ask because these are the only things the business world uses.
I've worked at several places in the last 2 years where I saw no installations of XP or IE6, and I've also worked at several places where XP and IE6 were used. I've seen installations of OpenOffice, Firefox, and even Linux desktops.
The point, though, is that your statement that XP/IE6/MSO is the only things the business world uses may have been true ~5 years ago, but not anymore.
Has anyone successfully fought the government in a legal battle and won?
How many times has the Supreme Court ruled 'XYZ Law' as 'Unconstitutional'? Would you not consider that someone successfully challenging the government in a legal battle?
Government makes law. Citizen challenges law. Law is overturned. Seems like a WIN to me...
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
What probable cause have I given the police to stop me, require me to prove my legal standing to operate the vehicle (my license), show that I am insured, and PROVE that I am innocent (not driving above the legal BAC), by simply driving home from Wal Mart at 2am? I am subjected to sobriety tests and breathalyzers when I have given no cause or reason for anyone to believe I am over the legal BAC.
A checkpoint forces the driver to prove his innocence, however the law states that you are already innocent until they can prove you guilty.
Stopping a driver that is driving erratically, or failing to abide by the laws of the road, are a reason for police to stop you.
Stopping EVERY driver on a road and forcing them to prove their legality on multiple levels* in hopes of catching a handful of actual offenders is NOT legal.
* You have to prove: - You hold a legal driver's license. - You hold valid insurance. - You are up to date on registration and inspections. - You are not above the legal limit.
Technically, I can 'damn well bet' anything I would like. I can 'damn well bet' that God will appear on the White House lawn in a pink tu-tu on the Fourth of July and re-enact the final dance from Black Swan, doesn't mean you have to agree with it or that it is necessarily true.
Yes, the tablet drum may have been beaten for the past decade, but tell me, please, how many times has a touch-centric UI for Windows been announced in that same decade, along with announcing a branded tablet? Oh that's right, none.
You honestly think that MS would launch a Windows OS on which Office would not run? To quote you:
You left out the most important word of his statement....yet.
Now that they are coming out with their own tablet and a tablet-centric UI for the next version of Windows, you can damn well bet the Office devs are cranking away at touch-friendly UI's for the Office suite, as well as many other MS developers getting touch-friendly UI's in place for all the big-name MS apps.
I predict now that we'll see Office, Works, IE, Outlook Express, Media Player, and hell probably even MS Paint and Notepad (cuz, seriously, I don't think they'll ever abandon those....) with new UI's designed specifically for tablets.
Not to mention all the popular third-party apps out there that will be redesigned as well, same as what happened to many popular third-party apps for Mac when Apple released iOS.
To the AC that said CLI is dead; why don't you get a job as a sysadmin, and then come back here and re-read that comment you made. I use CLI for 90%+ of my duties, and I know at least 4 people that do as well.

I don't usually post off-topic...but...
Joey: It's a moo point.
Chandler: I'm sorry...moo point?
Joey: Yeah, it's like a cows opinion - it doesn't matter. It's moo.
Citation needed.

The government also profits from the influx of tourists spending their money. Sales tax, gas tax, alcohol tax, cigarette tax...
Not to mention the numerous other ways the federal government has lost a legal proceeding.

I-95, right? In Florida myself. I've seen this.

Getting very old.
IMO, the absolute worst part about using Slashdot.
This was done because of the legal formalities required in this type of situation. It says it in TFS.
Nothing to see here. Move along.

You are still paying to use that electricity, so it is in fact NOT free.
I think Al Gore did, a few years back...
LMFAO!
You, sir, deserve a mod up for that one.
Except when you have about 400 saved sessions in PuTTY, then upgrade to Windows 7.
I'd have to set it as the default for each saved session. I am not that motivated.
Who gives a fuck?
Um, well, Home users, IT personnel, web designers, programmers, teachers, students, chemists, astronomers, doctors, physicists, etc, etc...
You know, the 99% of the population that is affected in some way by the decisions of the big tech companies like Microsoft and Apple...
The 'snap' feature is one of the few Windows features I like.
Open up two PuTTY windows, snap them side-by-side for easy code comparison, or having one tailing some logfile and working in the other.
Much easier than manually trying to resize my windows to what I think is half my screen.
To be fair, Gates never had to run three companies to success, his first one was enough...
1600x1200 != 16:9 Aspect Ratio
1920x1080 = 16:9 Aspect Ratio
Yes, this is the last scheduled launch of any of the USA's fleet of Space Shuttles.
So, uh, don't use Chrome?
Actually, it wasn't Halle Berry that gave the BJ, it was some blonde girl.
Although, we did get to see Halle's rack; veddy nice!
Mod up, perfect response!
