Food prices are going up, but there is still a glut of food. The reason why food prices are going up is because the cost of transporting, and processing it along with fuel based fertilizers are more expensive. There is ways around that too. The cost of food compared to oh 150 years ago is cheap, the cost 200 years ago is amazing, and compared to 700 years ago is the same as giving it away.

Remember. That it wasn't all that long ago, that salting your enemies fields was enough to starve a population to death.

Actually that's pretty much what it says. Most of what the article states is ignored by technology and the improvements in technology. There is *finite* amount of space on the surface of the planet. But our asses will be off this rock before it becomes an issue. Energy? No shortage. Food? We can still easily support another 2 billion and keep the world fed(remember that there's a glut of food world wide, unless you're in a dirt poor nation). Raw materials? Depends what type, and even then most can be recycled.

And that's not even touching on other materials for creating crap.

Wait it is? Well I guess it is now. Back when I was a kid, yeah all of about 2 decades ago. Teachers being friends with students was not only common but encouraged(at least in Canada, though not anymore). Hell and you go back 4 decades ago, teachers would be friends with the parents of kids, and the kids, and even swing by the kids house to help them out if need be.

I guess there's something about irrational fear that makes me wonder what the fuck is going on. Well I suppose there's a good enough reason as to why school these days seems like a mill instead of a place where you learn, and enjoy yourself.

There was such. Remember when you were a kid and then a bit older? Well maybe you don't but I do. If someone insulted you, you insulted them back. If someone bullied you, you punched them in the face. If someone mocked someone you liked, you heckled them and didn't fear being thrown to the lawyers and court?

Yeah. So these days, if you insult someone you're likely to get drawn up on 'human rights' charges. If you hit a bully, you're going off to anger management courses, maybe being charged with assault, or thrown out of school. And if you try to heckle someone back, they're likely to slash your tires and light your car on fire.

Yeah there was an age of sanity.

Yes, it is. Because environmentalists, nimby's and environmental groups like greenpeace have been against new reactors. Leaving old ones to be running bast their lifetime. The US has a anti-nuke hysteria. This has been fed heaps of ignorance since the 60's, by the environmental groups.

Pretending otherwise is just being ignorant of the history of environmental groups.

Wind and solar are neither cheap nor inexpensive. On average the price per-resell to offset the cost of both are in the 60-90c/kwh range, where the nominal market price is in the 0.04-0.10c/kwh. Nuclear is just fine, it's safe. What isn't safe are reactors that are pushing 20 years past their design lifetime thanks to environmentalists and their anti-nuke agenda. And refusing to upgrade to newer and safer plant designs.
