    somebody mod the parent as something other than funny. while it is funny, it also represents a serious answer to the problem. It might be worth $500,000.00 to someone have an application in house. $500,000.00 might not be high enough to charge, especialy if the application depends on modified GPL code.

    that is because most easter chocolate is the substandard stuff that nobody would buy for themselves. It doesn't have to compete against regular candy bars, so it doesn't try.

    So, are we talking economics, or only what you consider valuable? Don't let yourself be tricked by something that has no value to you. All of my money is just bits anyway. Yet people are willing to trade my bits for things like groceries and gasoline, or even ringtones. What does it cost to store my bank balance? I paid my taxes with an online servie this year. what were those bits worth?

    The only real measure of value is what people are what people are willing to pay for something. Does it matter if the payment or the purchase are virtual?

    So now information is free, and people who pay for it are sheep. What about the people who contribute money to wikkipedia? They are paying to give information away. Where is the value in that? Are they grass? I pay verizon to get access to wikkipedia and other free content. What kind of animal am I?

    Don't confuse what people subjectively should pay with what they do pay. People pay a buck a song. It must be worth it to them.

    what about other images of those models that Perfect 10 doesn't hold the copywrite on? If one of the models went on to have a swimsuit calendar how would google block the correct images? Would modeling for Perfect 10 ruin your carrier?

    fourgen was bought out by fitrix, if I'm not mistaken. I wrote a scipt that used expect, uucp, and patch to install fixes at client sites over modems.


    Now I feel old.


    It wasn't that bad to maintain- the only bug I couldn't work around was in Infomix's 4GL. It had a buffer over run in the report page header at 42 lines.

    Games and Third party windows only software aside...

    Given Microsoft's obvious hostility to the GPL as exemplified by the license restrictions on 'Sender permitted from' - why should I trust them or send any business their way?

    I've been using a Linux desktop for several years now. I develop software for Unix and Linux based systems. All of the tools I use are either open source, or have documented APIs.

    Why would I ever consider, let alone recomend, a Microsoft product?
