I have used the HP Tablets -- the Toshiba Tables (albeit just as plastic as the HP) are much more functional and come with better all-around software for usability and MS OneNote 2003 included... plus their display is 1400x1280 and 12"... the same size as a sheet of paper... 8.5x11
Microsoft OneNote 2003 is about the only application you need on a tablet to make it worth your while.
Now if they could just get speech recognition working as well as handwriting recognition.
I've got a Toshiba Protege (the most expensive model I could find at the time... 32mb nVidia card in it allows me to play SW: Battlefront, Guild Wars or even GTA on it!) that I've been using for almost a year now -- very nice. It's especially handy because you have EVERYTHING on your notepad, instead of just carrying a pad and paper around; you can now pull up meeting minutes from two weeks ago or a powerpoint presentation or check your email on the go via your cell phone.
It's basically allowed me to have an amazingly versatile mobile office.

some of the more negative flame comments calling my 52 million authenticable user objects absurd or impossible have never had the pleasure of this insanity;)
novell will do everything you want... Client OS Independent... they're getting more and more cross-platform every day.
They produce Windows / Linux / Mac OS X / HTML clients for almost all of their products and they meet all of your requirements.
If you have under 100 employees you can use Novell Small Business Suite in which the licenses are about 1/2 price. Once you cross 100 users you must upgrade your licenses... You also are allowed 2 server licenses with the small business suite.
Novell is really flexible and much cheaper than Microsoft. The security and stability is also there... although their Netware product since 4.11 has left much to be desired, but that's ok... they've got Linux (and have been for some time.) Their servers run Tomcat(web-java), Apache2, Perl, PHP, MySQL and all kinds of goodies right out of the box (they're install options, many are required.)
Anyway, very slick and VERY excellent and low-cost/maintenance for small business. Plus you're supporting open source (directly and indirectly):)
Actually I can say I worked on one of the largest directories in the world... over 52 million user objects and hundreds of millions of objects.
AD does not scale well. Senior Mgmt wanted to move from eDirectory to AD due to some price breaks on desktop os and MSOffice for over 50000 employees... so we made the attempt with Microsoft in house providing consulting services... they eventually admitted even they couldn't get it stable in our large distributed environent... during the one year migration troubleshooting process we had contractors restarting servers in hundreds of locations around the clock.
We're now back on Novell eDirectory with Open Enterprise Server and stable again.
I think maybe he had to pay in $10000 on top of what was deducted from his paycheck... as far as I know most people that make between 22-50k pay about 25-35% in taxes.
Of course the Microsoft software will come up with more matches... they have a better understanding of the internal workings of the Microsoft Operating System.
Wait until they run the competition out of business and then it'll be a totally half-assed app that ignores certain solicitations depending on how much money businesses pay to Microsoft.
Although I will admit that the likelyhood of running free software like Spybot out of business is going to be nearly impossible... which once again shows the value of Free Software.
blah blah blah... i'm tired of writing the obvious.
I think the US is setting up things to make China think twice before initiating anything in North America... Japan just caught one of their subs in its territory a few weeks/months ago.
Basically, what stops China from being the new bully if it surpasses the US economically?
If you look at what China and the US are doing they're the exact opposite... China is paying Iran millions to gain backdoor access to oil and the US is threatening sanctions against Iran... it's hard to inforce the sanctions if they're getting the goods elsewhere...
The bell is tolling for the US if they don't figure out how to control the Chinese growth.
Americans at least have the freedom to voice their unhappiness with gov't action. If the US doesn't listen to the the world community what's going to happen with China once they reach economic / resource super-power status? They have no checks and balances in their gov't system...
if I were india and China I would focus on getting people sent up into some rotating space station and then just blast people off in hundreds of thousands of cheap two to four man capsules...
they could all be shot at a location on the moon or mars or where with parts to build some sustainable structures -- or perhaps even the capsules/pods/transports are made to be reusable as housing...
I would figure if you can get the basics down and just make tons of transports the statistical odds are in your favor to have some limited BUT STILL successful attempts.
It's not like China and India don't have people that would volunteer to get shot into space to the hope of getting out of the slums / starvation they currently face and will continue to face for generations.

Does anybody have any links to sites with photos / specs of the Nano disassembled?
I've been unable to find anything yet -- I'd like to know what kind of flash drive / connector it uses...
Anybody else notice that collections letter is around THREE years old?
I can't believe no one has posted that episode reference yet.
maybe he owed 10k @ the end of the year for underpayment :)
:)
Without more information there are so many ways the gov't could have collected this 10 grand

10000 isn't alot in taxes...
10000 is less than 10% of your income. Seriously.
Last Time I checked most people pay between 25%-40% of their income to income taxes and social security...
It sounds like you were just Joe Consumer and spent without ever planning for a rainy day.
For people who don't read the article...
seriously...
Somebody needs to get a sense of humor.

i don't know about their innovations beyond the basic building blocks of a collective civilization.
:P
Seems like that's where they stopped about 700 AD
What's the story behind how oil was found there? I'm not familiar with the history...
I'm guessing it was discovered during some invasion from a western force during a war/invasion or accident?
where did we need a land bridge?
maybe firing people into space is their solution to Starvation... Crime... although I'm not so sure about the solution to "Hello"

So they should have made you play as JFK and try to dodge the bullet ala Bullet-Time(tm).
doesn't it seem strange like somebody is baiting the comment posters with this story...
post an FUD filled anonymous story about a popular open-source project....
is this the editors looking to boost their comments on a Saturday or is it an Opera or Microsoft Employee looking to shake the tree?
that's what I thought.
