Very cool indeed. I graduated from Carl Hayden in 1959 (yes, us old guys read Slashdot too). At that time the high school was in a mostly white blue collar area. Many of the families worked at the Reynolds Aluminum plant about a mile away. I guess the demographics have undergone a significant change. In the late fifties Carl Hayden High School was on the very west edge of Phoenix. Now it could be considered almost intercity.
As a local I have watched many launches from VAFB. Of course the boosters are far more reliable now. Back in the 60's we experienced 25% failure rates.
One of my favorite viewing sites is atop "Harris Grade" behind Vandenberg Village (it's open to the public). You not only get a great view of the launch but also get to hear the sound, which supplements the experience.
How is it going to be confused, it features the same white casing, Apple logo laser-etched on the back and comes in the same 20 + 40 GB configurations. HP is also offering iPod Tattoos - printable, precut, self-adhesive wraparound stickers to conform to the shape of the iPod.
Big paychecks are common in both the TV and movie business. The new Shrek 2 movie has Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Cameron Diaz getting 10 million dollars EACH for the movie.
