Well said. That's how I feel, too. The only inexcusable action, here, IMHO, was removing the EFF as a charity option. If I'm supporting DRM, even if it's a light version, I want the EFF to take part of my money and fight for my right to circumvent it as I see fit.

That's exactly what I did... only the minimum amount (to get the extra game) too, especially since the EFF didn't participate this time.

I think I'm also going to allocate zero to the "Humble Tip" in at least the next few future bundles because of this.

Home Built PCs tend to follow a simple formula if you're jinxed and don't know what the hell you're doing.

Really, that's pure FUD. First, if you can't properly diagnose hardware, what the hell are you doing building a computer yourself? Second, that only happens when you don't properly select your components. The only things you shouldn't skimp on are memory modules and the PSU. Especially the PSU. Funnily, that's exactly where some of the popular manufacturers cut costs, since they can spend the same amount of money on an i3-based machine with a good PSU or an i5-based machine with a crappy PSU. Since they "hey, it's an i5" is way better advertising than "hey, it has a good part that you probably never heard of and therefore don't care about", they all go for the i5 and then you're possibly fucked on the long term because almost every part of your PC is being fed incorrect voltages (and that can be insanely hard to diagnose at home if you don't know what you're looking for). They also tend to invest as little in cooling as possible, so at most you get an extra fan. Build correctly and you can do way, way better than any manufacturer. After all, they must pay their employees and profit from sales, and no amount of black magic will let them do it while charging you as much as the cost of the components.

The sentiment behind the OPs comment is accurate. Difficulty != why people play games. Difficulty != fun.

For a majority of people, maybe. On the other hand, look at Super Meat Boy's stats on Steam. It's nothing but ludicrous difficulty, and yet it has more recommendations from players than Borderlands 2 or Bioshock, games praised by different aspects. Difficulty can be lots and lots of fun, and to illustrate that point I present this very old video of a guy playing a very sadistic Mario hack: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yPo84-ve7Hk

First of all, Metal Gear is fun and famous precisely because of its gameplay innovations that tend to break the fourth wall. In fact, I think the story has always been quite ridiculous and made very little sense. But that's a matter of personal opinion, I guess.

While I think games could be more, I wouldn't turn then into mere movies where you have to merely press a button to go forward. And I would never eliminate challenge, because it's not a game if you can't lose, regardless of what we say to children. A good example of a game that isn't about fun is Amnesia. It's still driven by gameplay and has its challenges, but the focus is obviously on immersion, and it can evolve to a very unpleasant experience, if you let yourself be carried away.

Believe it or not, getting any modern Linux distro to run well on my old Athlon XP is actually a bit of a challenge (video and usb ports can be particularly problematic). And now, with llvmpipe being en vogue (the only thing it renders on slower machines is them unusable), things are worsening rapidly. Also, older ditros fit on CDs and lots of old machines don't even have DVD drives. Having said that, my favorite course of action on slower machines is Debian stable, with select packages from testing or unstable (which is getting harder to do, for some reason - it's very annoying and unexplicable when apt won't update hplip without pulling gnome-shell).
