    They certainly DID NOT build a country arround religious beliefs. "In god we trust" only got onto currency and buildings in the 1950s, after a bunch of religious retards decided they needed teh Jeebus to help fight against the 'evil god-less' Communist threat.

    The US Christians aren't happy with allowing all religions the same treatment...witness the nutjobs braying about 'the war on christmas'. Oh now, the store wants to use a generic greeting to reach all shoppers...that's not OK, the USA is an Xian country and Xianity should be front and center.

    That's what I'm hearing.

    This time the 'others' are brown people who have a different, younger religion. The Christians got the murder out of their systems by the end of the crusades...but the Muslims are still taking part in their crusades. How can you denounce them, when the Christian Crusades are partially why Christianity is so wide-spread? Ah the hypocracy of religion.

    Ah yes, the Republicans vote as they do because they suck at society. They can barely hang on as it is, but when changes keep happening the republican/conservatives find that their control slips...so they seek to prevent change.

    Oh, and even if Republicans give 'more to charity', Democrats give more to the State. Democrats earn higher incomes, don't you know? I consider the state more worthy of my money than some biased charity anyway. The state funds the military which protects everyone, the state grants everyone equal rights.

    Why not just pull out the wheat-rules and discard the chaff? The Bible says that homosexuality is wrong. The Bible says to kill those who would attempt to convert you. I disagree with both these assertations, which is part of why I reject Christianity. I agree with you that most religions are simply old old old social rules codified. I just feel that one can extract the good ideas and leave the bad ones. There is too much bad baggage mixed in with the religions.

    1) All other religions are lies, and the practicioners will be punished
    2) You get to live on even if your body dies
    3) There is a magical man who sees and knows all, can do anything, and loves you...but statistically won't do shit to help you out.
    4) You get to look down on and 'feel sorry for' those who don't share your particular delusion about the universe.
    5) You get a 'meaning for life', as if just existing and experiencing this crazy universe wasn't enough!
