All someone has to do to get around this is get the IP address for the website and add it to their hosts file.
All the provider (casino) needs to do to get around this and prevent it in the future is to register domains in other countries. I'm sure that's what they will do and then email all their customers. They can also build this into their clients if they don't use a web interface.
1) The CPEs (DSL/Cable Modems) that most service providers don't support IPv6. No major ISP will force the firmware upgrade of millions of CPE just to enable IPv6. Even then who knows what all the folks home network uses (wireless, OS versions, etc). Imagine the calls to the helpdesk.
2) Most of the DSLAMs in the DSL market aren't IP aware. Those cost more than the ones doing simple ATM VP/VC mapping or ATM>Ethernet (dot1q / QinQ) conversion. That offering will need to roll up to the BRAS which probably won't be able to support that many NAT translations as the big boys terminate 100k+ sessions. I can't speak for CMTS stuff.
3) The big boys customer is no longer the subscriber but it's actually wall street. That's who they care about making happy. So imagine the opportunity they have once they figure out a way to NAT all their non premium subscribers. That's another $5 a month for anyone that needs a public *dynamic* ip address. Then another $10 on top of that for a public static IP.
I recently had an issue with eBay and here is a rundown.
- Stood in line at local walmart and managed to get 2 xBox 360 platinum bundles - Went straight home and listed the auction before I went to bet (it's like 1am now) - Woke up and someone used buy it now on my auction for $1500 for 1 of them (I kept the other and never listed it). Payment was made immediately. - I called paypal to verify that large transactions had come out of this guys account as it seemed too good to be true. This wasthe norm for him. - Shipped xbox overnight before lunch - Got back from lunch and my account had been suspended...no emails from ebay or anything like that - Fired off an email to several ebay email addrsses - Winning buyer gets his 360 - Got a generic reply about 2 days later saying my account was suspected of fraudulent activities dirctly related to the selling of the xbox and asked me to fax/send some information (receipt for xbox, front back of licence, ebay billing CC statment showing first & last 4 digits of CC, and signature that I acknowledged the ebay TOS). Yes, that is alot of BS to go through - I could just open a new account but I like my feedback so I really want this one back and besides....I did nothing wrong. - Fax all that BS to ebay - About 3 days later I get a form email saying something could not be read. - Called their 800 number and pressed the option for an operator thinking I would talk to a human. I did and they promptly transferred me to a recording. - Guessing it's my licence I blow it up really big and refax evreything - About 3 days later I get a form email saying something could not be read. - You can see where this is going...repeat sevreal times lasting about 3 weeks - During this time eBay promply charges my CC for the $100 it cost me to sell the xBox through their site...while my account is cancelled. - Eventually got motivated and called their 800 number, pressed option 1 (enter extension), then I started typing random 5 digit extensions. HAHAHAH...first try I get a human...wrong dept but a human none the less who I can now annoy until I'm fixed - Puts me on hold, calls safeharbor, then transferrs me to them. - Lady says she'll look into this and call me back in 2 hours. - Hour later I get a call back saying the receipt was completely legible and that was all that should have been necessary since that is the reason for the suspension.
At about 3pm on 14 Dec 2005 my account is reactivated.
I have an old series 1 SA TiVo that I've added a HD and NIC. I have to keep basic cable as I cannot get my locals over DirecTV so this is the best setup for me. I also need cable for broadband as Cox will not let me have just broadband.
The DirecTiVO is even better because as has been pointed out it will record 2 shows at once while you are watching something that is already recorded. No that's useful as I'm tired of dealing with schedueling conflicts with my old SA TiVo.
If you do buy then I reccomend going to http://www.dell4me.com/tivo and clicking special offers. You can get a DirecTivo setup for only $49 after $50 mail in rebate.
For those of you who already have DirecTV and your account is in good standing I've heard nice rumors that if you threaten to cancel they will offer you a DirecTIVO to be installed by a professional for only the cost of shipping the unit which is roughly $11. That's even hotter IMHO but I have no use for it:(
The DSLReports.com site can only tell you an estimated cable feet. They cannot tell you anything about the lines that will say Yes, I can get dsl, or no I can't for sure.
Since they don't know these types of things they cannot say that you can get dsl for sure. Some of the things that keep people from getting DSL are neignborhoods coming in over a pair-gain connection and load coils on the line.
That's fine. Just do a price match via your credit card. Most of them offer this service for free.
It's Nicole Bilderback.

Not that hard....
Actually, there are several issues with that.

Maybe the MPAA/RIAA should go after FTP too. Ya know, The people that release the illegal stuff often use it to move stuff around.

Sure, depending on the service level I will have to pay $5/mo for service. It'll take years before I've caught up with a home built unit in cost.
