I had a payment pending with Jinx.com. After PayPal drew the funds from me, they never told Jinx about it (they apprently expect to get some sort of confirmation email or another). Luckily, when I contacted Jinx, they were able to look in to it and discover that I had indeed paid for my wares, so it looks like "no big deal", but is a bit irritating.
Those benchmarks doesn't mention the complexity, nor do they specify the number of transistors on the CPUs, so I don't see how you can draw your conclusion.
On the other hand, the Athlon XP range is End-Of-Lined.
Let's talk Athlon64 and Opteron instead.
Intel will have to put the memory controller onto the CPU sooner or later. If they want to go "Not Invented Here", it's going to cost them $$$ BIG $$$ BUCKS $$$ in cache.
In a championship of iterated games where I got to play against myself occasionally, I was able to win the aggregated championship score due to my "insightful" ability to optimize playing against myself.
I don't think anyone [sane] is suggesting that Bungie/MS leaked it themselves on purpose, but they might want to take the lemon and make lemonade out of it, by molding it into a huge PR gimmick.
I've been looking at a Karma, but today I learned of the DCube NHD-150 which looks like a better product on paper. Okay, no cradle/ethernet, but you get USB2.0 and USB Mass Storage instead.
On the 10:th this month I happened upon jinx.com, courtesy of a slashdot discussion. Decided I wanted some t-shirts. Said and done, I started to place my order, just to find out that I had to use PayPal to pay for it because, horrors of horrors, I'm not an USian. If you're not an USian, then you don't get to pay using your VISA directly (anyone can tell me why? I thought this shit was global). Anyhow...
I've resisted PayPal until now, partly because of all the stories, partly because I understand that they're not a bank and wield a huge one-sided "EULA" to which I don't want to sign away my soul in blood. I don't want the drama, I don't want the redundancy -- I can pay perfectly fine using my normal internet BANK, thank you very much.
That is, I always could, until stores decided that PayPal was teh gr3atest evah! and denied my all other choices.
But damnit, I want those t-shirts. So I sign up. I get time-out's like crazy, having to retry page after page (which gets tedious after a while). Think "people put up with this shit? It's worse than I imagined!".
So, with some trepidation, I add my debit to the system. "When this is done, I hope I can erase it from their database", I think to myself.
I finally pay jinx. PayPal says "All OK!". I go to sleep.
In the morning, I check my bank. Sure enough, the funds been reserved. Check Jinx. "Awaiting payment". Hmm... "Well I hope it's drawn soon"
Loiter around, hoping my t-shirts will ship soon. I've got someones birthday to attend in just over a week, and I really need some fresh wear.
Today, two days later. Money still reserved at my bank. Jinx still "Awaiting payment". Unable to log into PayPal, but my account at PayPal said "all paid up, not problems here, no sireee" (paraphrasing) when I left them last time, so why would that change suddenly.
One thing is for sure, when this does get shot down (which it will be, maybe even if Kodak doesn't try to extort anyone else), McNealy is going to look quite to fool for handing out this much money.
Unless they "bought into" the patents, and Kodak, MS and Sun are hoping to get rich together in a twisted little love triangle, but I'll leave that to the real tinfoil-bearers.
... should use PNG instead of GIF. First, as we all know, PNG aren't animated, so no-one will be fooled into thinking that maybe these are animated gifs;-)
But jesting aside; 310097 rotsnake.gif vs 262253 rotsnake.png, 46.7KB saved for that single image, or about ten seconds download time for a modem user.
>Well, there is not many CDs that last more than 70 minutes.
Maybe not, but most of the ones I buy do. But I'm also not the least bit interested in pre-encoded content, I can (and do) encode it myself if a want to.
I just picked up Pain of Salvation - Be from my mailbox this afternoon, and it's playing time is 1:15:58.
>Huh? I think I missed something
See other comment. The ideas been done, but with WMA instead of MP3.
For instance, if you buy the Pain of Salvation - The Perfect Element (Limited Edition) you'll get two CDs, one of which contains both audio tracks and data session with a 'website' containing additional material; interviews, mpegs of their videos and mp3s of some of their older- and demo-tracks. Total play time: 1:32:30 in audio tracks plus 36:30 in mp3s (music, more if you count the audio interviews).
And those are just a couple examples.. let's see, before that I bought the Machinae Supremacy album. That too plays for more than 70 minutes.
I think the simple reason is that A) It's been done (for mp3==wma), and B) Setting aside ~100MB for a data session seriously eats into the playing time of the audio session.
No wait, I know: it's only "superseded" when it suitable. When you want to talk about the evils of homosexuallity, to take but one example, then it's not.
>, wasn't the fundamental idea that God gave Adam and Eve freedom
No actually, I think that the lesson was that you should: obey your leader(s), not seek knowledge that isn't handed down from them, OR YOU WILL BE PUNISHED!.
So maybe christianity and right-wing politics isn't such an odd match, after all?
>one of SCO's lawyers [...] footwork was smooth enough to impress even Groklaw's IBM-dazzled observers
...but only because he managed to stay awake throughout the hearing ;-)
Join the ranks of those who walked before you, Mr Kari.

MP3 player + camera + color display. I think iRiver already did that.
So...
Did I get that right?
I don't think anyone [sane] is suggesting that Bungie/MS leaked it themselves on purpose, but they might want to take the lemon and make lemonade out of it, by molding it into a huge PR gimmick.
To get the truth about SCO vs IBM, we should go to prosco.net?.
Ok.
Here's the payout matrix:
McBride | Lawyers
--------+------------
STFU | Get paid
Talks | Get paid
---------------------
Where's the surprise?
Sound like they're trying to get a Groklaw+Tuxrocks+Yahoeuvre+Legal Scorecard, but without the commentary.
Losers.
Oh, well. Guess it could get hilarious if they add their spin to things.

Gawd damnedit. I just wanted my fucking t-shirts.
And that my friends, is my very first PayPal-story.

The actress Wendy Hoopes who did the voice for "Mona Sax" in Max Payne 2, is currently doing LAX.
"into an annual competition that might further fuel imaginations."
Yeah, like the Loebner Prize?
Or maybe not.
That link is to a 40K 3DMark'01 run. Here's the setup at 3.6GHz.
>How fast can the 90 nm Athlon 64 core go before it dies?
At least 3.6GHz. That's a 130nm(? I assume) Athlon FX-53, so the 90nms will do better.

It roughly translates to "Boycott Blizzard."
You mean "continue to boycott Blizzard".
Won't ever buy one of their games. Was close with D2+expansion, but then this shit blew up.
The right thing to do now is to convert as many people as possible into also boycotting these scumsuckers.

Why? Wasn't that obsoleted?!

Simply because it *is* so old-school
<stares at screen>
"old-school"? Counterstrike?!
