  2. Burning Crops = Stupid on Once-Darling Ethanol Losing Friends In High Places · · Score: 1

Aside from damaging engines, ethanol creates crop contention with foods. There is only a finite amount of land that can be used for growing crops, and every bit of that land that is used to produce ethanol fuel is a bit of agrable land that isn't used for crop foods. Even switchgrass will require circulating other crops out of plantation. With a big part of the world suffering from undernutrition, I would think it should be criminal to dedicate cropland to fuel production.

Recyced, cellulosic ethanol is of course another beast altogether.

Except, of course those micro-black holes couldn't exist, at least given our current understanding of stellar evolution. Post-supernova, without enough mass, neutron degeneracy will prevent the remains of our dead star from falling below the Schwartzchild radius. It's theorized that the minimum mass to form a black hole is about 2-3 times that of the sun, so the smallest black holes would probably have a 6km event horizon.

Katrina was bad because of its size. In fact it was so large that the potential for damage was said to be greater than some previous category 5 hurricanes.

Here's a look at Katrina from NOAA
    http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/img/climate/research/2005 /katrina/katrina-satellite-t.gif

    Compare it to Hurricane Andrew
    http://www.noaa.gov/images/hurr-andrew-082492.jpg

Now to category 5 Hurricane Camille
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hurricane_Camille

You'll see that while Katrina may have had ultimately lower overall windspeed, it had a lot more energy (as evidenced by its size). Whereas many hurricanes will weaken and dissipate after making landfall, Katrina had so much energy that it was able to sustain its strength and make a second landfal even after venturing far enough inland to cause huge damage.
