How is my aversion to advertisements illogical? It seems to be more of personal preference.

And of course $9.95 is too much - the print edition costs much less, and they actually have to physically deliver the paper to your doorstep. Why should I be penalized for saving them materials and labor?

If the Post offered me $9.95/month for an ad-free online subscription (and possibly costing more), I would be content. If the post offered me the same price or less (should be less) for the electronic edition, I would be content.

"I would likely be willing to pay for the electronic edition if it were ad-free."

And the last sentence of my letter - "Please inform me of any current or future plans you have to offer an ad-free subscription to the "Washington Post Electronic Edition"."

    Subscription implies paying for it.

    RTFA, man.

I run Windows on my main desktop, and know how to do it well. I don't spend time daily administering my machine. I simply set it up correctly the first time. After installing Windows and all of my apps, I go through the list of processes that start on boot and only keep what I need. This is a basic strategy that administrators of *all* OSes (even "secure" ones) should use.

Combine this with being a smart user, and your system will be plenty secure. I don't even run anti-virus software. Never have. Never had a virus either.

Alienware sucks. Their "Aurora ALX" has a base price of $4,819.00, comes with NVidia 6800GT video cards (as opposed to 7800GTX 512MB), only 1GB of RAM (2GB max), no DVD burner, no keyboard, mouse, or monitor, and it doesn't ship until December 26. How the hell do they justify that price?
