The FDA has been on a tear to get rid of medications used for pain control, even without narcotics. The interesting thing is that most of these meds have been on the market for over 40 years and never caused a problem. Now the FDA feels that if someone can use the drug and overdose, it is a lethal drug that must be taken off the market. Of course, the FDA reasoning for pulling the meds is that it causes heart failure. This crap has to stop if they want to stop the suffering in agony that many elderly patients and accident victims have to go through. And they want us to carry around Narcan for OD patient?

  3. The true reason for green on Wind and Solar Can Power Most of the United States, Says Study (theguardian.com) · · Score: 0

In the US, back in 2010, it was obvious that the grid was sustaining demand (barely). Now the Grid owners that don't want to shell out infrastructure, unless the Govt. pays for it, saw the wave of rising demand coming. So, as a result, even the electric company is saying switch to gas! As a society, we have spent a fair amount more on LED bulbs, and high efficiency everything, this has helped the grid grow some margin, a nice place to be for free. The wave is the Ecar load that is coming on gradually, gotta charge them batteries! Sure, there are a few pushing the carbon tax, another money scheme. I cracks me up when the solar panel companies call us, I tell them to look up our house on google earth, 5 prime acres of woods, old and new, you know, the ones that create oxygen from our garbage air. Their proposal it to cut down the trees and put a small sized solar farm in our back yard! This solar growth isn't people thinking about the outcome, all they are thinking about is their wallets.

  6. This fellow doesn't realize that the largest job losses in the US have been because the jobs moved overseas. Sure robots are making small inroads that should not be discounted. I will say, however, that if he picks the pockets of the big 4, those jobs will go overseas as well. I know this type, the government will pay for your tuition. Then the government takes over companies, quietly becoming Venezuela, and the population is scratching for bread crumbs.

HP killed the remote worker over a decade ago, or should I say the workers did. Productivity was down due to employees being lazy. Now with a throw back to the 40s, no cube walls open office. This way your co workers can spy on you and rat you out to management. The rat gets praise, and the slacker is kicked to the curb or pip'd (the slow termination process). It all has to do with the value output of the employee, it has nothing to do with oligarch mentality. You must support sustainable growth for the stock holders... they are your boss. I just hope I never get my hands on the turd ball that made open office spaces the new norm, the sound of jail does scare me a bit.

Just like every company claiming to go green and doing so, it allows them to sell their product for more money as there are so many customers that are green conscious.Do they give a crap about the environment? There is also the JC virus that 98% of people have. If you do have the JC virus and take certain MS medications, there is a very high probability that the JC virus turns toxic and literally eats your brain. It just doesn't make me real happy, zero political talent on their part, but since they are well known, they get listened to by the weak minded and their drivel sinks in. Older workers are experienced enough to know that not all change is for the better.

Also, it's tough to make progress if you keep throwing out all the people who learned lessons already, and then spend the next generation of staff learning all the same lessons again.

Back in the late 90's, employees right around 50 would be trained, lets say for a black belt. When they were done with training and returned to work, HR would call them in and explain to them that they are now overqualified for their current position and didn't have a position to put you in, sorry old chap, I'm sure you'll find a job elsewhere. This was the trick at Eaton. I was younger so I didn't fall into that trap. Then there are companies that will only bring you in as a Contractor with no chance in hell of going full time. As someone mentioned above "just make wiki page and store the old knowledge. Sorry, doesn't work that way, the teaching comes through on all levels when the ancient works with the fresh outs. Some times it is just that simple, other times, it may take months to help them tweak their personality to fit in properly with the machine and figure out the life/work stuff. I'm mid 50s grey hair and beard, along with a cane. The folks I'm working with are fresh out of College, full of ideas, but not knowing how to apply them. In the end, it is a mutual learning opportunity for the greys and the young ones, even when it comes to things outside of work. Its a little difficult to start being a mentor to them at first, the main thing being that you are not there to judge them, and yes, ICs are made of smoke since once you let the smoke out they no longer work.
