The Death of Folders?

On the contrary, I have over 1300 documents in "My Documents", and I'd be fukked without my folder hieararchy. How could a flat list with search capability help me?
I haven't used this OS, but the screenshot on Wired looked stupid: Why sort on HTML and PDF documents? Was that just one configuration? I can't imagine how I'd get through my documents without hierarchies. Once I've sorted down to a folder with ~100 files in it, then this search stuff would help, otherwise, seems like a hassle. I use Google desktop for Outlook, and it sucks compared to a disciplined hierarchy of folders.
I agree with you, SOI works on 90nm as demonstrated. At ISSCC'03 (04?) they explained the issues they had with SOI to work at 90nm. However, the future is much smaller. If it lasts beyond the next generation, I'll be pleasantly surprised!
Without getting into the details on why Intel doesn't have silicon-on-insulator
Simple: SOI doesn't scale well for smaller geometries. In order to benefit, gate oxides have to be very small, and beyond a certain minL >100 nm, it becomes insanely difficult to make SOI work because you need to maintain angstrom-think gate oxides across a 300 mm wafer.
That's why IBM is way behind Intel when it comes to device size.
Frequency is proportional to heat, since frequency is proportional to the active power component (~1/3rd the total power). The slope of the proportion is determined by the cooling solution, which can vary from OEM to OEM, even from box to box from the same OEM.
So the article is correct. There is a proportional relationship between frequency and temperature, just not the same for everyone.

Um, have you totally not been listening to the right wing since 9/11?
"Invade their countries, kill their leaders, and convert them to Christianity" wasn't just a mouthing off by some ignorant bitch that looks like a melted barbie doll, it is the creed of EVERY right winger that I know. They're deleriously happy to hear about more dark skinned folks being killed, and somehow think that our fine soldiers are messengers from their god. It's horrifying to hear this shit come out of the mouths of co-workers.
Um, what exactly is Intel following? Obviously not AMDs abyssmal earnings, piss-poor fabrication, complete lack of OEM support (compilers, chipsets, etc.)...
64-bit instructions? You mean AMDs massive marketing-hype program that forced Intel to release a completely unnecessary technology? Ooooh! One feature! I'm so impressed!
Yes, a win for AMD on the tech-hype front. Kudos. Didja notice how that something everyone who bashes Intel for doing is suddenly interpreting as portent of salvation.
Would they even use England is degree 0 longitude?
You'd probably have to send a map of the stars from the position of MIT, and account for the drift you mentioned, as well as changes in Earth orbit, solar orbit, galacitc drift, etc.
Jeez, laeaving accurate coordinates for 100,000+ years is gonna be a toughie.
I wonder about that: How can a country made mostly of peasants be an untapped market? If you can't afford a new adze blade to hoe your rice patty, how can you afford a PC?
-5 retarded (or -5 ADD victim) is more appropriate.
dude, I was like 12 when i played it and it only took about two months, and most of the kids i knew solved it too. we didn't even have BBS access, this was mid-80's!
Unsolvable? OMG, saying that is like standing up on a table in a crowded room and shouting "Look at me, folks! I'm a fucking idiot!"
i like how all their birthdates are posted too.

From TFA:
"Scientists have gotten fusion to occur in the laboratory before, but for the most part..."
I wish people would stop using the word "got" altogether. It's so ugly.

SOI is dead.

Why the ferk does a monitor even need a driver?
It bugs me when mundane devices need drivers.
Like keyboards and monitors.
What's next, my power supply will need a driver?
implied $_ has a five line limit. beyond that, out comes the wet-noodle whacker. ;-)

Those are the two guidelines required by our methodology.

So that people stop abusing the language with l33tspeak...
"Numb3rs"??? Come ON! It's f'n PBS!
Hell, I sat in between two families of toddlers and preteens when I saw "Starship Troopers".
What the fvck is up with parents?
And "bloodbath" == PG-13 but a little bit of booby on the TV == congressional action?
What a fvcked up country you guys live in. Could never get used to it over there.

I thought the force was channeled by microscopic cellular components called midochloridians or something dumb.
Doesn't that mean Darth is weaker with fewer limbs? Or do all the cells pool into the brain? Or does it not matter how big it is, just how you use it?
Reminds me of Roman Polanski's "What right has my head to call itself me?"
they obviously heavily filtered the user posts. every one was insipidly positive, with lots of cute positive encouragement.
it felt like the care bears were posting.
feature + ignorance = bug? Sad
Fortunately the MS support infrastructure doesn't condescend to people having problems like the *nix/FireFox community does.
Sad.
...furthermore: is it too late to add this famous joke back in?
...44 Oz. Framing Hammer.
Just explain to the RMA operator how you work for a "major construction contracting firm"...
I wonder about that: How can a country made mostly of peasants be an untapped market? If you can't afford a new adze blade to hoe your rice patty, how can you afford a PC?
My, that was a yummy mango!
Of course, "Don't Panic" was one of the useless, unncessary and redundant phrases cut from the movie.
+5 insightful for "So many unsolvable puzzles"??

Some people never learn.
Correction: People learn when things are explained intelligently by someone who actually understands the issue.
You say taxation is stupid and creates unnecessary burdens, so we need to just wait for market forces to drive up and create the exact same burdens.
That makes no sense.
