No - not what they decide I should have but what they can use to further recover revenue from their product.

I don't want ads. The MAN thinks I should have them for my own good? Because that's what the market wants? Because the man is being magnaminous? No, the man wants his mon-ay. While all of the manufacturers could make their own set-top box to do the same thing (like Roku, AppleTV) why compete with the other manufacturers who have the market pretty much locked up already and cede the field when they can just bake it into their TV, See? You don't need that silly Roku when you have Samsung-o-vision!

I understand my rant has little to no power and how the market forces are at work/play here... But damn it felt good saying it! :)

I know it's weird but I just want this unitasking display that does ONE THING GOOD - Generates a purty picture with good resolution and color depth and supports the current HDMI standards and maybe displayport. I don't want or need to play angry birds on it or skype on it or any countless numbers of apps that I'll use my computer or iDevice to run and I certainly do NOT want it networked (unless you're going to allow me to update the HDMI controllers - which you guys never do anyway preferring to make me buy a whole new display)

    YOU. SELL. TVs!!!

That's the extent of your access into my life!

For better adware rates? Really? Who wants to buy ads on your OS that everyone hates?
To save some money on patches and code because you only have to maintain one code base? No one wants to buy your software now so hey, you're going to save LOTS of money on maintenance!

The only thing this points to is Microsoft is getting ready to close their ecosystem and the only way they can do that is get them all onto Windows 10 and then force all software through the windows store - which I'm sure is baked into the Windows 10 EULA.

I've had to actively fight and repair 4 friends and family members systems over the past few weeks who suddenly woke up with Windows 10 on their systems when they explicitly - EXPLICITLY CLICKED NO on the upgrade!

Now you're telling me *I* have to go back and confirm that the upgrade box I explicitly made hidden on my PCs will now be unchecked?! FU!

    No, he's not.

The system is fair to voters come the actual election time.

Private political parties hold primaries and caucuses to choose whom they're going to run as candidates. The primaries give the ILLUSION of voter participation but it's still a matter of voter suggestion. The party leadership has the final say on who runs.

If the voters don't like the candidates they're voting for or don't think they're getting a fair deal voters HAVE TO GET INVOLVED IN THE PARTIES OR START THEIR OWN to put the people they want onto the ballot come election time.

It's NOT rocket science. It IS work which seems to be anathema to Americans anymore.

    Make 'em faster.
Oh... we can't do that anymore? Oh well... let's do something else.

memory/mb bandwidth is still a problem and intel hasn't really dug into that area yet. Nor have they looked at getting away from the aged x86 instruction set and using some new sets that are more conducive to performance. (But muh Microsoft and Linux! Well you're already giving up on that market and going elsewhere...)

Obviously the market is slowing down and that's reflected in my own PC builds as I've gone longer and longer between refreshes as the technology held up longer. But if they're going to shift development to appliances it sounds like they're giving up on the enthusiast market altogether. I can be happy with AMD too but that's gonna affect the whole market of motherboard manufacturers as well.

Also I think the IoT market has reached saturation. I don't want or need internet access to my refrigerator and how much innovation do you need for thermostat chips?

Likewise cloud tech - You can switch to targetting cloud based machines but they were all pretty much on Intel already and the market for that is far more limited than the consumer market.

    Basically... Intel just surrendered.
