  1. In the past at least, lots of artists wanted flash, because no one provided an easy alternative to do light bandwidth vector animation. Today I see people watching flash videos as youtube videos, with more lag than the originals had on old connections. While I agree that flash had tons of security problems, it did fulfill a need.

    Given its original purpose was an animation tool, that makes sense. It wasn't until all the interactivity to make games/websites that it became a problem.

  3. It had a running start.

    How about Wii compared to PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360? Wii came out last (albeit by 2 days compared to PS3) yet outsold them both.

    The real reason the PS2 outsold other consoles of its generation, if you recall, is that everyone suddenly needed a DVD player and the PS2 cost about the same as a regular DVD player, but with the added ability to run games.

    So it's almost as if horsepower isn't a direct measure of a console's success, and there could be other, more novel ways, it can be successful.

    What do you use it for? I'm curious why you'd leave a vulnerable OS connected to the Internet rather than using Linux (or some more recent, supported, version of Windows)

    It's horrifying to imagine a candidate not accepting the results of an election. Wait? We lost? The election was rigged I tell you!

    To be fair, Hillary isn't the one questioning them.

    If you're referring to her supporters, yes hypocrisy is on both sides of the aisle, and it's dumb either way.

    ...Mobile websites and apps are crap with very limited interfaces.

    ...and if they had the same interface (and I mean the same interface, not just the same options presented differently), you'd complain that you had to pinch/zoom all the time.

    Because there are only two* parties in the U.S., Democrat and Republican. Once you register with one party, anything anyone does in that party is Right and Good and anything anyone does in the other party is Dumb and Wrong.



    *no one cares about third parties, they just throw your vote away.

    Sanders is even more the polar opposite of the Trump people and representation of everything they hate than Clinton is.

    Yet, they both agree the current system is really bad. It's how they think it should be instead that they differ.

    Sure he came from 2015 with it, but is is explicitly stated that's when he got the Mr. Fusion? Maybe he got that in some other time, then went to 2015, then 1985.

    I always put X-UA-Compatible in Css to force edge to use IE so I do not have to work around bugs.

    What CSS works in IE11 (and presumably Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc) but does not work in Edge?

    Find me a new Linux Laptop running Ubuntu 9.04 since that came out the same year as Windows 7.

    Anyone building a site really only cares about their own metrics. The site I work on had mobile surpass desktop back in January.

    Though, given the comments, I wonder if anyone here even builds a site of their own, outside of a personal project.

  24. Adobe will flip on this just as soon as someone wants a massive crapload of seats for Photoshop for Linux and is willing to pay for them. The same can easily be said of any software company.

    Isn't that a catch 22 though? Why would someone (a business?) imagine a 'crapload of seats for {software} for {OS not supported by software}'? Even if they were willing to pay for it to be developed, I would imagine a port would take a considerable amount of time. So that's extra money AND time spent, when they could just be running Windows or macOS.

  25. Windows 7 came out in 2009.

    Find me a new computer running OS X Snow Leopard or Ubuntu 9.04 which also came out in that year.
    Of course, this is Slashdot, so it's only wrong when evil Micro$oft does it.
