how exactly would you make 65,000 pieces of paper disappear without anyone noticing?

In San Francisco's local election a couple years ago, thousands of ballots washed up on shore after the election. The San Francisco election coordinator said some ballot boxes had fallen into the San Francisco Bay after poll workers took the boxes down to the bay to WASH THEM. I don't know how those ballot boxes got so dirty and why the poll workers would choose to wash them in the dirty bay.

ok, that makes MUCH more sense! I had to read the last paragraph of your orignal post about 4 times to figure out what you meant. My conclusion was that you meant "without" or that you meant Unit Testing using "traditional C++" was painful. :)

I wonder if/when Wikipieda will implement a moderation/meta-moderation system, maybe something like Slashdot's? I don't think Wikipedia contributors should be banned, not even anonymous users from "trollful" IP addresses. Anonymous public speech is important for public discourse. However, maybe a moderation system could help slow the trolls.

Why are you guys are less addicted to WoW than EQ? Is there something unique to EQ that made it more addictive? Or have you guys just moved on from RPG addiction? just curious.

D&D evolved from 1970s wargame simulations.. and it shows! For some lighter RPG fare, you might check out:

    • Polaris is cool if you are more interested in tragic storytelling than rolling dice.
    • The Pool is just some simple rules and no world setting. Very easy and flexible, but it doesn't have much support material. Oh, yeah: it's free!
    • Clinton R. Nixon's The Shadow of Yesterday if you want something in between. I suspect this game might be the best choice for your game group!

Also, if you are looking to find gamers interested in these types of "indie RPGs", check out Clinton R. Nixon's FindPlay.

As an ex-CS college professor, let me suggest that it would be better to spend that $100 on the developing world on more teachers, education for teachers, roof for schools, etc.

Those things are important, but an internet-enabled laptop will allow kids (and adults) to access online teachers, references, and markets. Look at the huge boon mobile phones have had in developing countries. Farmers can call around to get market prices and sell their goods to higher bidders, instead of just taking whatever meager price is offered locally.
