Your absolutely right, Coldstorage sounds nothing like SoureForge. Thats because I was allowed to take the basic principles of Coldstorage and expand and improve on them. VA allowed me the flexibility to take the original project and turn it into something else entirely. The basic priciples of Coldstorage are found within SourceForge so if You feel the need to ask yourself "Whatever happened to Coldstorage?" Just point your web browser of choice at http://sourceforge.net

As for your interview at Linux.com back on November 3rd, 1999. Think about it. We released SourceForge to the public on November 17th, 1999. Do you really feel that we wrote 2MB of PHP code and setup 16 servers in 2 weeks ? It isn't possible.

As for my relationship with Trae, I don't know if we could be considered "best friends". Yes we are friends, I cannot deny that. But I'm friends with Chris DiBona, Mandrake, Raster, and San Mehat as well. The fallacy of your statement: "It wouldn't surprise me in the least that what I told Trae idea-wise for weeks on end last year may have ended up on Tony's desk as work orders." is that I don't work for Trae anymore than I work for Chris, Raster or Mandrake. He's not in my reporting structure at all. Period. And I didn't take orders from anyone concerning the building of SourceForge. Tim Perdue, Drew Streib and myself sat around after LWCE in August and came up with the principles of SourceForge. We defined the information and system architectures behind it on our own. As a matter of fact, there was only about 10 people at VA other than us that knew what we were doing and Trae wasn't one of them. So give it a rest.

    Period.

Well..I'm going to lose a few karma points for this but here goes:

Dude, You need to quit hitting the crack pipe.
We did not steal any ideas from any group of volunteers. The planning and development of SourceForge was done by 4 people. Those 4 were Tim Perdue, Drew Streib, Uriah Welcome, and myself. When planning and developing SourceForge we received no input from the community until after the site launch on Nov. 17th, 1999. We also received no input from VA. We worked on SourceForge in a "black ops" environment. By this I mean that we were kept separate and shielded from normal channels within VA. I know this because I set up the structure to be this way.

As far as giving back to the community we have tried since we launched the site to listen to the direction the community has wanted to take SourceForge. This is the community at work. Period.
We also released the code under the GPL so that others could help improve our code and if they were so inclined they could use the code to setup their own site.
We are also currently in the process of allowing other developers to work on the "live" code per se to help improve SourceForge.

Bruno, was burned to death in the Square of the Flowers, in down-town Rome, on February 16, 1600. In 1889, when freethinkers and rational religionists erected a statue of him, in the same flowered square where he was murdered by the Catholic Church, they were condemned by Pope Leo XIII.

He was executed primarily for his belief that the world was not flat, that it was indeed round and that the Earth revolved around the Sun. He also claimed that that the Sun was just a star and that millions of stars have planets about them.

For these claims, AND for the crime of advancing the notion that priests had no right to use violence in attempting to convert disbelievers, the church brought charge against him.
