So if you sell your PC with the windows license to another person, say, your next door neighbour, it becomes an illegal copy of windows? or Am I way off here?
Has anyone else noticed a change in speed? it seems to be getting hit pretty hard. Donno, I got a "document contains nothing" error, and also a page that just kind'a stopped loading.
Pretty soon this might be a reality! Employee sues her boss across the Atlantic...
As someone else pointed out, where would you hold the trial for something like this? The place where the person who started the act from? Or where it happened? Hrm...
oh, jeez, we are gonna have those crazy people, like the people who use blink in html, paint their cars in this stuff and have it change colors randomly and go blinking down the highway... man, that would be a nightmare..
Also, indian languages (I would expect them to do it in hindi, since that is the most common language next to english that is used through out india) aren't that easy to translate to a keyboard, or a palm. They would have to redesign their character reconization etc, I think that would push the price way above the 200-300 mark.
I wonder if the system admins just got bored and started to think.. "Hrm, wonder what would happen if we banned win2k?" I can picture the other one going.. "I dare ya!"
It was a joke... he wasn't trying to say that slashdot.com doesn't point to slashdot.org, but rather say that he called the site "slashdot.com" instead of the normally used title "slashdot.org". That's all nothing more, nothing less.
Sure you can get a cheap card for under 100 dollars, but you don't get one with nifty features, i.e. TV out... DVD decoder, S-Video, etc... Maybe even a TV tuner, why not just go All-in-Wonder. When I really want to upgrade my video card (since I have only 1 computer that I mostly use) I would much rather have the options, rather than have just a vga out, and nothing else. What if I want to play my DVD on TV?:)
"what would you do with the source code to Windows?"
It would be funny if someone came out with a Stable Version of windows, take the source code, make better garbage collection, and a better kernel... hey.. it could happen!
So would you allow your government to come into your computer and look at all your private files? I understand how it could be userful in catching terrorists but out of all the computers they will be hacking, how many do you think belong to terrorists? This can be a excuse for spying on people, or using people as scape goats. This might cause more pannic among people, where people will start hiding their files on computers not on the internet. I think there should be laws, kind'a like a search warrant to hack into someones computer, and even if they find something without that warrant they shouldn't be able to use it in court.
Even if the story provided you with nothing *cough* all the trolls *cough*. Atleast you can enjoy the images. That's one cool gallery. For example this one Enjoy!
Back when I was in school DARE was nothing but a mandatory "goof-off" class period. I don't think anyone actually paid attention to the DARE campaign. But also my school wasn't that drug infested. Other than the few bad apples (very few), my school was actually very drugging free. In the long run I don't think DARE has done anything for me. In college if someone offers you a cig., or something else, do you really think that you will think of "DARE"? But I assume that the DARE campaign is only targeted towards the young-teenage group.
"Pullen wants software companies to be held liable for damages for security breaks resulting from the backdoor technology -- as well as damages from known glitches in software."
People will think twice before putting out software now *cough* MS *cough*.
Definitely Sony. I can picture the X-Box crashing at the worst possible time. Fighting the end boss of the last level, almost beat him 1% health left... um.. it hangs? I have seen the Dream cast hang too... but not as often as my windows system (granted that the console system doesn't run as many processes as the windows os, but still it's the principal).

And also that the engine only weighs 35 kg. This might cause a different kind of car thefts. Carry the car away?
And also I wonder how much pollution the machine that fills up the air causes?
I was pleased to find out that Star Trek: New Worlds made the list along with Sydney 2000. I loved the fact that they actually mentioned the "using arrow keys to enter your name". What kind of programmers are out there programming games? Are they really that lazy, or under pressure to push the game out the door that they cannot make a few changes from the "Console" to the PC version of the game?
I agree... I was addicted to muds for the longest time. But what it comes down to is all these are just GAMES to keep you entertained, not to run your life. It doesn't matter what you do in the MUD wether your a really high level char or a low newbie, what matters is that how you do in real life. Everytime I see a MUDDer now I try to explain to them how muds are bad for them and what happned to me, maybe its not as bad a drugs but I think it falls under the same section.

As the cost of going to the movies has escalated to $20 or so for a ticket...
This guy is great!
"we raised ticket prices so much, it's like people don't want to give us all their money"
"I blame rental and retail prices"

Do you really want to be fixing bugs in that code? I barely want to look at my code after its done, look at a MS Developer's code? *shudder*

No one bid on those, lets buy under 100 (for all of them of course!)

GO BIG!
Now.. if we can just figure out how to add a nic card... and give it a ip, run it through a broadcasting server.. Yay free tv for the web!
I like the GeForce2, but even sub 100 is too rich for my blood. That's almost food for a whole month :). I'm perfectly happy with my ATI Rage PRO.

Oh yea... principle... damn must be all those years in Catholic school!
It might actually break up in the atmosphere, and cause little or no destruction on land/water.

Which is better if I want to program in java, gnome or Kde?
