Anyone know the title to the episode where Ren gets commited to the mental hospital, and they make him the president? I've always loved that one, and have no idea what its called.
I was buying a new reciever, and mentioned that I needed a TOSlink cable for my CD changer. The sales guy grabbed one for me, and I didn't take too close a look at it, except to make sure it wasn't a MONSTER cable.
When I got home and started to hook it up, I realized I was now the proud owner of a six foot, silicone insulated TOSlink cable, with gold plated optical connectors. Guess that will teach me to pay attention to what the sales droid drops in my cart.
I just picked up a DTS receiver at Best Buy, asked the sales guy for a TOSlink cable for my CD changer. He came back and dropped a 12 foot cable in my cart. It was something like $50, but there wouldn't be any signal loss because of the gold plated connectors and the sheilding.
I dropped the cable into a bin full of Brittney Spears CDs because I didn't feel like explaining why the very thought of that cable pissed me off.
Just like all the 900mhz CPUs out there destroyed the usefulness of those OTHER cordless phones, or when the 100mhz Pentiums wrecked FM radio, or when the C-64's destroyed shortwave with their 1mhz processors.
No, people operating open relays need to be kicked in the balls a few times... people playing Yoko Ono in public should be decapitated and their head mounted in a prominent place.
Galeon tries to do a lot cool stuff, but falls down on reliability. I'm hoping their next generation comes on strong, gets stable and takes over my desktop, but for now.. Amen! I use it exclusivly, but it seems to have a memory leak as it falls down after about two hours of use (less if I am playing with my neopets.) Luckily, the crash recovery works great.
As for vanilla Mozilla, I use Evolution and Pan... they do what I need faster and with a (somewhat) consistant interface, plus I like some of the extras Galeon provides too much to give up.
Unless, of course, you're in a store with a bunch of people watching you. It's sort of the equivilent of standing on the top of a hill during a thunderstorm holding a fork up in the air.
Not really... just tell them you are checking the temperature of the FireWire.

CompUSA droid : Duh-ok, let me know if you need help with anything.
But with the client not caring if the server does authentication or not, there is no reason for the warez kiddie servers to do the authentication, and you are right back where you started from.
I've been running with the -mjc patch for awhile now... the other day I decided to see what would happen to my mp3 playback if I tried to drive up my load average. make -j on the linux kernel pushed my average up to about 180 before freeamp skipped, then I ran out of filehandles and the make began to die. Incedently, I met with the OOM killer when I tried make -j 200. It didn't run out of filehandles that time, but the average got up to about 150 and then xterms started disappearing. freeamp didn't skip, but it got wedged trying to load the next file on the playlist, and was killed a few seconds later, along with the make.
This is a single processor duron 800 with 512mb, so I was impressed to say the least.
1) No new information. How often does a grammar school math text need replacing? Even for subjects that are changing such as sciences, updates aren't needed that often. Kids aren't given the latest and greatest scientific knowledge because it is way over their heads.
2) Money. I sincerely doubt that the publishers that charge an arm and a leg for paper books are going to give away their content for free, or even a discounted price beyond cutting out the cost of the paper.
Besides, kids kick the shit out of their textbooks. It would probobly be cheaper to replace the 8 or so textbooks a kid goes through every 5 years than to replace a webpad type thing every two years.
All I can see this doing is replacing something very simple such as a wirebound notebook with a dedicated device that would be limited by its interface. Sharing may be easier with a device, but a scanner could do the same thing.
Yeah, unless they get the 90 year old bitch-luddite that still hasn't mastered the electric light for their third grade teacher. "Get that thing out of class."
Besides, I fail to see how this would change _anything._ It would be lighter to carry around, yes, but it would accomplish the same thing in exactly the same way, but it would require batteries.
I just had this post in meta-moderation, modded up as Insightful. I left it blank. While we all know that the system is broken, I see no reason to abuse it by making bad meta-moderations, because it IS off-topic. I also M2'ed two mediocre comments that were posted early in a thread as unfair, because they were not insightful in any way. They were painfully obvious. Just because something is not bad does NOT make it good. If I got an ascii goatse that was modded down as redundant I would vote it unfair because it is not redundant, it is most likely off topic. There are labels, use them.
PS: Props to my two dead karma points. Its off-topic, but the use of a threadslap on a 6 day old thread is just recockulas.
Odd, it runs fine on my Duron 800 and kyro2... last time I checked this is an extremely modest gaming machine.

Four words: GOLD PLATED OPTICAL CABLE.

Nah, that was just the 1541 floppy drive with the shoddy power supply burning up. I heard that sound several times as a youth.
Uhh... Limewire does the same damn thing as this... its called LimeShop. And gator... and some gambling links on the desktop...
One word: GNULIX
Does no one remember this dumbshit? ITS TECHNOBABBLE DESIGNED TO INVOKE DUMMY MODE ON MODERATORS.
And yes, lameness filter... i AM trying to yell.

Not to mention you won't be stranded if you are running late, and you won't miss your stop.
Of course, catching VD from the seats is probobly still going to be a problem, just like the bus

One problem with that...
/*
BlahHandleClientConnection(foo);
/* AuthenticateCDKey();
DoSomeOtherStuff(baz,quux);
It is a little hard to do a CD key thing in open source.
Just let the sonofabitch fall and piss on the lid. See how long the fluffy cover stays on the toilet.
Let me just tell you, cordless optical mice are the greatest, although it took some time for my ears to stop ringing after I got mine...
Quoth my wife, "YOU SPENT HOW MUCH ON A MOUSE?"

There are two reasons textbooks are that old:

2) Money. I sincerely doubt that the publishers that charge an arm and a leg for paper books are going to give away their content for free, or even a discounted price beyond cutting out the cost of the paper.

So the theif and his buddies get together, get ripped and kick the shit out of it. Chances are that this happens after they can't get past the BIOS.
I turned mine off yesterday while I was at work. I was saving time so that I could get my new hard drive in ASAP when I got home.

Yet another thing with GNULIX on it... does anyone really care anymore? DHCP isn't news.
