Except that the Bible says nothing about birth control. It does say a few things about avoiding adultery and not having sex with your sibling. In fact Paul even says that husbands and wives should not withhold sex from each other (I Cor 7:5). The reason given is avoiding temptation (presumably for adultery), not procreation.

Anyone remember Dante's Divine Comedy? It was written in the early 1300s. In it, he had some past popes condemned to hell. They were also expecting the current pope to arrive soon.

If that isn't insulting the pope, I don't know what is. And this was back in the day when the pope had much more authority than now.

His (Dante's) exile from Florence was due to belonging to the wrong political party and not due to his religious beliefs.

I'm not sure why you'd think going to Apple would be any better. You get the exact same business tactics, just a slightly more stylish computer.

I keep hearing this, but I don't think that it's true. Apple and Microsoft have very different personalities and goals (beyond making money). This is not to say that Apple is good and Microsoft is evil, but that there are many more kinds of evil than Microsoft demonstrates.

The flag is a symbol. You don't show your patriotism by planting as many flags around you as possible. You show it by standing up for the ideals that the flag represents - free speech, free religion, free press, equality, etc.

I think that this is the key here. It is much easier to wave a flag around and say, "Hey everyone, I'm patriotic." than it is to actually support the ideals of the constitution.

It seems to me that unless there is something supernatural involved (a soul), it should be possible to construct an artificial intelligence. It may be something different than a computer, but it should be possible. The rest is just engineering.

I dunno. Most of the comments I've read are the usual "software patents = bad" sort of thing. A few do mention that the magnification feature of the dock might be patentable, but it's annoying and most people turn it off.

Those with long memories remember that when OS X first came out, most Apple users complained about the dock. I preferred the way that the classic Mac OS handled things with its Apple menu, which was more like the start menu in Windows. But that's long gone, so you wipe your eyes and move on.

So, the dock may, or may not be patentable, or features of it may be. But, why would anyone want to imitate it?
