RMS, ESR and other luminaires of the open source world such as the brilliant Slashdot editors have said it is so. Neither Apple nor GNU/Whatever software has bugs. I will repeat what has, at this point, become patently clear...Apple patches older versions of it's software for free. I have used all versions of OS X, and all versions have recieved security updates for free with great regularity.

I know a lot of folks around here expect miracles, and that is a good thing, but just because a company takes an extra week to patch a security problem that is essentially non-critical -- as opposed to criminally negligent a la MS outlook and VB script related vulnerabilities -- doesn't mean they are leaving their users out in the cold.

My point is that not recognizing the contributions of many platforms is really disingenuous. Whatever your feelings about Apple today, to not acknowledge the contribution they have had on computing as a whole is intelectually dishonest.

Most computer users cut their teeth on Apple systems back in the day -- as well as Commodore PETs -- and today we have come full circle to a point where Apple is making great Hardware and software...but I don't care to shill for the company, my point was simply that the whole fanboy thing is overdone -- the fact is the Linux sheep -- and that might not include you, but who knows -- are vastly more likely to be wanabee weenies -- with less of a clue but more of an attitude -- than many other Platform users. Sure I can make a playlist using yet another piece of software that I don't own (and don't want to pay for) and then burn that to a cd or convert it to an old boring MP3(as if), but I really think that is too much trouble to have to go to. I guess it's back to LP's and 8-tracks for me. I mean sure the quality and lack of DRM are upsetting and all, but this newfangled practice of converting my music into different formats for my usage is too much -- it'd be like plugging a turntable into a cassette deck and hitting record so that you could have a copy for a smaller device so that you didn't have to lug around a turntable...oh...well, still, I just want to know why I can't play that cassette on the turntable? I mean, it's my cassette. It's my turntable. It seems like a conspiracy to keep me from using my music on my terms. I'm going back to my cave...
