maybe an option to only allow audio out of the visible tab.
I use pandora/grooveshark/whatever in a background tab to listen to music all the time; having only the current tab emit sound would defeat that. But the ability to mute tabs (or have them muted by default, and be able to unmute them?) sounds perfect to me. Or how about having a whitelist of sites allowed to emit sound (somebody quick, grab the name NoSound to be a sister extension to NoScript).
I immediately began the purchase, but I've been sitting at the "waiting for paypal" screen for a while now. Last bundle it only lasted a few seconds, but then again, I waited a couple days before I grabbed that one.
It is the biggest, most well known and therefore more people hate it.
Not unlike "enterprisey" programming languages. It's hard to hate something you don't know about. It is easy to hate something that has become the de facto standard despite having flaws like everything else.
Why, oh why, couldn't you just stick with 2D filming? (Worked fine for Titanic, right?) You have caused probably a decade of suffering. We can only hope that eventually the 3D fad will die out and only be used in projects where it is appropriate.
11 / 10,000 = 0.11% - If you have any common sense when you download an app, you can probably be way more than 99.89% confident that it won't send unwanted texts. 8% sending private info to a server is troublesome, but again, reputable apps probably don't have this issue; slashdotters of all people should be pretty confident about their ability to discern the scamminess of an app.
At first I wondered that too. But given the enormous price tag, I'm guessing that it's probably using lasers or something more than just a lens to look at your eye.
iris recognition uses camera technology, with subtle infrared illumination reducing specular reflection from the convex cornea, to create images of the detail-rich, intricate structures of the iris.
If this device already costs $3,000 I really don't see why they would specialize it to work with a $600 iPhone, of all things. Why not just give it its own screen and network connection?
...would have prevented both Anonymous and LulzSec from ever getting started
Disagree. Some people simply want to "stick it to the man", defy authority, be rebellious, and work for "justice" in their own way. Or they just want to screw around with people. AnonyLulzSecWhatever is bound to form, regardless of the governmental circumstances.
Minecraft was hardly the first to introduce a "manipulable" environment. We've been cutting grass in Zelda games and destroying blocks in Mario games for a long time now.
We really need to stop using the negatively spun word "steal" to refer to "Intellectual Property". Stealing implies a devastating condition: the victim no longer possesses that which was stolen. If people really "stole" Apple's inventions, that would mean that Apple suddenly would not be able to produce iPhones, iPads, or anything at all. Let's use the correct word for the actual condition: copy.
We can sit by and watch competitors copy our patented inventions
FTFY, Jobs. Sorry, it doesn't sound as horrible as steal, and that's because, well, it isn't.

[Get the iPad]...unless you’ve got a grudge against Apple for some reason, or are enamored with the idea of having a more configurable tablet
He just described ~80% of slashdotters there. So go get your Galaxy Tabs, folks.
The chats do not distinquish between the browser at home and the browser at work. That matters a lot when you looking at Internet Explorer.
I imagine the people who work for companies dumb enough to still be using IE6 are themselves not that bright.
The Firefox Mozilla has taken a step...
Only a few words into TFS and your point is proven.

...save the headlines for when this actually happens.
This is the stupidest thing I have ever seen posted to Slashdot.
You must be new here...

I agree that 3D is enjoyable when done well. That just doesn't seem to be the case for most 3D movies, though.
Dear James Cameron,
Why, oh why, couldn't you just stick with 2D filming? (Worked fine for Titanic, right?) You have caused probably a decade of suffering. We can only hope that eventually the 3D fad will die out and only be used in projects where it is appropriate.
Sincerely, pretty much all Slashdotters.
So that's why iPhone apps are so lucrative...

TFA says it performs an "iris scan". From Wikipedia:
iris recognition uses camera technology, with subtle infrared illumination reducing specular reflection from the convex cornea, to create images of the detail-rich, intricate structures of the iris.

The only secure password is the one you can’t remember.
Great. So remember to write your password on a sticky note that you leave on your monitor, and you'll be golden.

it can only attack once every 2 or 3 seconds
So it needs to get about 10-15x faster to hold up against a "real" jedi.
Being a woman is a profession? /troll
That should have been the original summary. Old people have more free time. Go figure.

to match US prices
Summary
they remain more expensive than in the U.S
More expensive != match.
Actually, despite the best efforts of many a PR department, 4G does mean something.
Are people really this stupid?
Yes.
But it also runs anything else that targets the JVM, so it also runs JRuby, Mirah, Scala, Jython, etc.
