I've seen systems on solaris with lots of cron jobs that quietly run for ever... the crap that get's me is when you have a bunch of vb, js, and bat files that are never documented and cobbled together by admins or report analysts that really aren't software developers.
Been there, done that, will probably have to do it again. The last time I had an issue like that I was lucky enough that I could just start over with a commercial solution that supported the three systems involved but that's not very common.
Let me guess they are tied to some kind of integration and reporting services that combines many systems that really aren't services they are just a bunch of crap with no documentation and the moron that cobbled it together from a million articles he googled no longer works there.
Bats really can swoop down and get tangled in your hair... you may ask my sister. Although that was a bat that got into the attic not one flying around outside the story is there because it can and does happen.
So you are the one that writes all those scripts in the task scheduler with no error handling or logging that fail all the time and make my life a living hell.
Oddly enough you can get a 7 inch cell phone on a regular unlimited data cell plan but I'm not aware of anyone offering data plans for 7 inch tablets at or below the same price.
it's true all of those things but java is the one I see the most so it annoys me the most and i'm sure if it dies one of those others would replace it in the not so distant future.
I was hoping that java would quietly die not that java itself is bad but there is so much java junk developed by companies that is just good enough to ship on a schedule we'll finish fixing it later and then later never comes... I guess it's job security since there is no short supply of crap.
My brother and I were talking the other about how things appeared to have changed over the years and how the line between legitimate program and scourge of the internet is awfully thin.
It's hard to say everything i might say on this subject in just a few word and I don't want to write an entire article but I didn't see my best friend's suicide I showed up a minute later and had heard the gunshot.
He wasn't the only person I've known that has committed suicide or tried. I never attended any of those meetings but if there is help to found it would be in people who can understand and have compassion and as for our mental health professionals that want to push drugs... Prozac will not bring back friends/family, make your spouse un-fuck your best friend, your boss be less a douche, pay you a decent wage, or your job any better it just doesn't work that way.
Unfortunate for the cable company there are a lot more local stations offering streams even if most are only news and weather that's what I tuned into them for anyway and the larger network like cbs and cw have their most recent content up the day after it airs.
It's not hard to find the content I watched on cable already available on hulu, netflix, and other streaming sources.
You might also notice that planets have to apply to become part of the federation and the criteria requires them to have a certain level of technology, single world government, and be willing to abide by the overall rules of the federation and that the planets similar to those in the star wars universe would be denied access they could almost exist in the same universe... the federation and those outside the federation. There are plenty of stories lines in the star trek universe that show how outside of federation worlds there is poverty, slavery, and wars.
There are various live tv and radio streams not available on roku I can cast them to roku from my computer browser or phone but would prefer to be able to just browse to them on the device at the tv and raspi will do that and still have access to the other services I already use.
No we only discount suicide from the number of gun related deaths especially if the next sentence is about inner city gangs, gun violence, and homicides because to do otherwise is disingenuous. Then you take that number and put it in with suicides regardless of method.
It still doesn't sound like an in depth study of gun ownership is with in their scope and if it was, I still wouldn't want my tax dollars spent on studying something that if we discount suicide takes less lives than traffic accidents, flu, diabetes, heart disease, cancer...
They need to stop with confusing the issues we face get onto the real problems.
CDC does track overall death statistics but studies like that are outside of their scope since they study disease. They have gun related deaths broke down with suicide accounting for close to 50% of gun related deaths. You would be better off worrying about influenza since unless you are suicidal it is more likely to kill you.
It would have to be airports because that wouldn't get the wrong overreaction from the public. Imagine if it were 19 churches the reaction would be suspected terrorists burnt at the stake after being tortured into confessing.
The thing that made 9/11 so terrifying to so many wasn't the number of people or damage but that everyone stopped and watched it happen right on their TV all at the same time.
I was in college at the time and students, professor, administrators, etc... all stopped in the commons and watched it right there. Classes where canceled and everyone took the day off without notice, they just watched and there was nothing any of them could do.
What's that you knew they where paid good reviews because all the other reviews especially the bad ones are taken down by dmca notices?

Well since they are showing speeds in the Gbps so you could technically blow your data cap in less than a minute.

I'm sure java is not the only one and would quickly be replaced by something else but at the moment the problem children tend to favor java.

You can create channels for the plex and other things... but honestly the raspi would just be easier and less time consuming...

I've been considering replacing the roku with raspi 3 otherwise I have pretty much the same setup.

We have had a few that crammed for certs passed them and then didn't even remember the things they were supposed to know.
It's not surprising, I passed history but if you asked what year a war happened it better be the war of 1812 or I'll have to look it up.
We have a "Technical College" that pumps out A+, MCSAs, and AAS on an assembly line, most of them learn nothing and don't make it in the real world.
