I know it was there in Empire, and it progressed in Jedi, but then it got worse in the other movies. So all I can assume is that in Empire Yoda was suffering a little dementia before he kicked the bucket.
But hey.. my comment did work though.. no lame Yoda quotes!
"Supervisors propose that a person should be fired, but base that on behaviour that does not clearly fall under the dismissal clause, and you need HR/Legal to verify that there are no legal repercussions for firing said person" ??
If it was boarderline then I would have thought "re-education" was more appropriate than attempted firing. However if there is a line in the sand then I would have hoped it was obvious when it was crossed.
"Childs has worked for the city for about five years. One official with knowledge of the case said he had been disciplined on the job in recent months for poor performance and that his supervisors had tried to fire him."
How the hell do you "Try to fire" someone.. either you do it or you don't.
(And please.. no Yoda BS. If you go back and look at when Yoda was first introduced as a character he didn't do that cutesy backwards sentence construction. That came later. So I put it in the realm of Jar Jar - obnoxious character development)
I hope you emailed them and pointed out the error of their ways. They are nice people to deal with but as non-profit they don't always see the quality of their web presence as the most important thing on their agenda (and yes - I have also had issues with their website in the past)
From Jarod Diamond's point of view the west did not become wealthy because of us doing things "right". It became wealthy purely through geographical luck.
Aarguments have been raised in opposition to his book, but I still think that it is a worthwhile read.
In episode 2 of the second season of "30 days", they tracked a US worker who did just this. They moved him over to India and had him go through the whole process of applying for a job and working for a call centre. It made or very interesting viewing.
More jokes from the video.
They talk about the EMD technology and how an air marshall or cabin crew could use RFID transmitters to issue a command to incapacitate the terrorist standing in the planes aisle while wielding a knife.
Now you politely ask the terrorist for his Unique ID, then plug it into your transmitter, making sure you got it right. Ok now we are set to issue the command. Et voila 30 seconds later you are ready to zap him.
The alternative is that you just press the button and take down everyone within range of the transmitter. (and hopefully have taken off *your* wristband before hand)
I was watching the video and it talked about the strengthening of cockpit doors and said that this measure should be completed by 2003. So when was this all new news???
There was a cartoon in the paper that read something like:
"We have just had a report that other countries are competing in the olympics. Now back to our coverage"
That has pretty well summed up every telecast I have seen in recent times, and what I fear will happen for Beijing no matter how many hours of coverage they stream/broadcast
Looking at the photo of the cockpit, there seemed to be some "foot-pegs" on the side walls of the car *in front* of the drivers seat. So perhaps the passenger actually straddles the drivers seat? In that case the passenger would have a lot of leg room length. But still.. mighty uncomfortable for a long trip.
I know that tapes are expensive. I looked about 6 months ago and shook my head. But as I have had drummed into me by various comments seen on/. "Raid is not a back-up solution".
However now I am looking at my data needs and thinking that one small house fire or robbery and I am SOL.
So the question arises, just how do you economically back up a Raid system? Tapes? Duplicate offsite hardware?
I don't have anyone to co-lo with but I also doubt that my ISP will like me streaming 1+TB of data across my home cable connection.
Though the initial setup may be done via physically shipping drives and then only sending diffs across the network. But now it is starting to get fiddly - In addition I would need to buy hardware for my twin so that I can guarantee the a compatible configuration at both locations.
If I am starting to buy duplicate hardware, then perhaps I am better of just buying multiple drives and physically rotating to a close by off-site location?
I was thinking of of a similar question for my home/office requirements. 1 to 2TB of NAS in some sort of Raid configuration to protect against drive failure, but the additional question I have is what would be a good tape drive to pair it with so I can easily do off site backups of the complete system?
Are there any cheaper yet reliable tape backup systems? Or is it still going to be in the $1-2K arena for the tape system?
Obviously this guy does some sort of skilled job that requires some sort of degree if he can afford a house, a car, and a jet ski. I mean a construction worker and a cashier is not going to own his own jet ski. I think you need to re-educate yourself on earning potential of blue collar workers. As an example there was a comparison done in the news in Australia a few years ago between a 25 year old brick layer and a doctor who had his own practice. The bricklayer was bringing in more revenue and was financially better off than the doctor and had a hell of a lot less stress.
You seen the rates recently? There's currently only a 5% difference between AUD and USD. And I know a person who lost that amount through banking her IRS cheque in Oz (to explain - this was an expat who returned home and got an IRS refund from 2007)
replying to my own post. I found some analysis that I had seen before about Sequoia e-voting machines used in the 2004 presidential race in Palm Beach County (FL). When I first saw this data I was astounded at what their analysis showed. Assuming that BBV is a fair and honest non-profit (after all you should be suspicious of everyones motives when dealing with things like this) what they found is horrifying.

In all fairness to the/. crowd, I'd say that the best place to ask this question would be the forums of http://www.blackboxvoting.org/
From what I have read of their analysis of previous elections I would guess that they have seen it all before.
There is an answer to that. Whenever you get on a Qantas long haulflight to the US - even though it is an Australian airline flying under the Australian flag - they announce that US regulations prohibit people from congregating in the plane. This includes handing around the toilet waiting to use it.
so technically you are already a Bad Person (tm) for doing so. The video surveilance just proves it.
If not Dell, but they are a major manufacturer then try contacing them to see if they also recycle.
I know this is not a creative use, but whats the point of having old hardware lying around if it they have "various problems with power supplies and/or batteries"
It's this place where people watch commercials interrupted by programs at the time least convenient to them, and have to wait a whole week between episodes; instead of downloading them one season at a time and watching them whenever you want... There.. fixed it for you.
It amazes me that people think that shows are the reason for the existence of TV stations, when really the whole broadcast system depends on hooking in enough people in order to get them to watch the commercials.
TFA mentions a larger robotic boat called the "Beagle B". This name sounds suspiciously like someone is paying homage to the Malcolm Jameson story "Children of the Betsy-B" that was first published in Astounding Science Fiction in 1939.

Instead of a broadcast flag , I want a quality flag .. one that stops shows like American Gladiator from even being broadcast.
