Agreed - you can actually properly visualise where the different weather areas are, and it shows how it changes throughout the day with patches of rain moving and changing shape etc. Much better than some vague cloud symbol that covers almost the area of wales leaving you guessing about which symbol applies to what area you're in.

Indeed, Perl's threading support leaves a lot to be desired. I recently coded up an internet radio statistics collector daemon, which simply takes a count of the number of listeners on several shoutcast servers every 5 seconds, in parallel spawning a new thread for each server. It seems that finished-with threads aren't cleaned up properly, as I found out when after leaving it running for a few days I tried to find out why the website was responding so slowly to find that the stats collector was using 70% of the entire machine's memory...

Also spawning a new thread takes ages... I put it to the test and it is about 10 times as long as it takes to fork.

Erm, what? I don't need anyone to "approve" my software's license :P These business-orientated news sites have had fucking ages to get the facts right on all this stuff and they still can't do it.

I've used one on a dialup account before (dial up to company's network) so it must be possible on a VPN too, a PPTP one at least. It worked by having a four-digit password that stayed the same, and the SecurID code appended to the end, so effectively the dialup password changed every minute but the first four digits stayed the same.

I can never get the lisa daemon to work properly, or stay in a working state. You have to mess about with telling it what netblocks to scan and stuff like that, which isn't really ideal if you're running it on a laptop and connecting it to lots of different networks. If it was up to me, I'd build network browsing straight into konqueror, and auto-detect the correct network to scan from the IP and netmask of the network interface(s).

I haven't had any stability problems (apart from it locking up now and again when I try and open a new URL while it's still trying to connect to another one), maybe you should check your xine config?
