  1. There is no safe dosage for religion. on Equal Time For Creationism · · Score: 1

Equal measures of religion given to various people will cause them to act in completely different ways:

One person may have a benign reaction and experience feelings of euphoria with enhanced stress reduction.

Another person may react with feelings of paranoia, persecution, and depression stemming from the loss of self-esteem.

Another person may have a dangerous reaction and experience homocidal or genocidal impulses. If this person becomes a charismatic leader, the result is often multple violent deaths and suicide.

Some people show an initial reaction and then become immune to religion.

There seems to be no way of knowing which reaction any given person will experience. Some evidence suggests the reactions are mostly non-violent.

So the question becomes: is the positive benefits of euphoria and stress reduction induced in some subjects worth the negative impact on those who do not tolerate the exposure as well.

And should anyone other than a parent or legal guardian make that decision for a minor.

They could provide you with endless measures to secure their systems. But because they are big and powerfull, they have convinced the people that they are the ones that have to "monitor their credit". Thats ridiculous!

When was the last time your bank or credit card company offered you special security features? Like the ability to restrict your account from access from WesternUnion. I never use that, so I would like to blacklist that from accessing my account. Some chance of that!

Or they could create a callback system that would ring your phone when a charge came through. Automated, it would say press one to approve and two to cancel. Three would say, this is a trusted vendor and you dont need to call me back for purchases made here.

Anyone wanna try to make their bank do that? Of course not. They dont have to do anything...Where else are you going to keep your money?

The case could be made just as easily that only licensed engineers should be able to write/produce software. After all, the whole world isnt infected. So why should the burden be on all people who never had or caused a problem.

It would be "easier" to restrict the development of software. It would require fewer people to be compliant. And it would be fairly easy to implement a technological lock to allow only "registered" compilers run by "registered" developers to run on a proprietary OS.

If a programmer uses is powers for ill, then he loses his license and any software generated by him is blacklisted.

After all, its not the users who are commiting injurious acts on purpose. Its the people compiling the programs.

A different standard could be set for people who just did a bad job that left a vulnerability in their code. Those people could be hung out to public shame.

Then they shipped you a tool that you can use to spend your bandwidth to fix it.

Its ALL over the place. With hard disks that get nuked after an OS upgrade, to lousy security design and implementation, to awful user interface glitches.

But you have no choice! You have to pay for this shit. And then pay more and every year for virus scanners and popup blockers and every tool under the world just to save your ass.

You cannot return the products. You cannot trust the products. And you cannot trust the companies who know they are screwups and are intent on making as much money as they can anyway.

Let the federal government regulate the states and international corporate entities. They can set some standards, but leave the majority of the work and the money in the state.

The rate that each state can be taxed can be based on its GDP or something for each state.

For instance, the Federal Government sets limits on the amount of money I can set aside for retirement. But perhaps each state would like to do that instead. Some states have more people retiring soon. Different demographics. I think our concentration on Federal this and Supreme that has been a major flaw in our search for liberty and equality.

To put it another way. I would rather move to another state if I dont agree with the leaders than have to move to another country. And I would rather have the state leaders compete for my business than the Federal ones. Smaller shop, better service.
