My 'rights online' would be weakened but the 'rights offline' of other people would be improved because fewer people are hating him.

Are chlidren abused in the production of child porn? No shit Sherlock they are, but if an ISP blocks all site based on an algorithim where child and sex are on the same page then you block medical sites, the ACLU's webpage, abuse prevention sites, and the Democrat party home page.

I have not used Longhorn, but guaging from past MS upgrades the products get more annoying to use for me. IE6 is web browsing hell, popups, popunders, no control over javascript etc. Windows Explorer has lacking ftp support and NILL scp or sftp support. Networking is hell and the programs a cyclically dependant on half implemented goodies. For example, if Windows can't access the default network printer, Word crashes.
Windows has also been known for being uncooperative between different versions. Windows XP refuses to look at any SMB shares from a 95 or 98 box.

Windows will have its traditional advantages, but I doubt Longhorn will be a Linux killer unless something fundamental at Microsoft has completly changed.

Unless I have missed something, an EULA is a contract. Contract law has many nice stipulations.

Oral contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on i.e. no proof no contract.

Both parties have to agree to not only the same contract but also the same interpretation of the contract (which is why when you get a cell phone before you sign anything the sales person has to walk you through the entire contract).

A proper contract is noterized and signed by a witness.

A proper contract is between two people of majority age.

A contract must not be signed under distress.

And many other gotcha's designed to keep lawyers employeed and make contracts possible to break out of. How many of these do EULA's cover?

Now for the ontopic part, the user of the software and the person who agreed to the software terms are not necessarily the same person so even if someone signed explicit agreement it is null and void if the person using the software did not agree to it.

  18. What makes a good movie. on Does A Good Game Make A Good Movie Idea? · · Score: 2, Insightful

A good story makes a good movie. The Legend of Zelda series more or less historically suck for stories and are about exploration. (I have played and beaten all the games but the N64 ones). In Wind Waker the story was about Hyrule but not about Link. A good story is one where the characters themselves change and learn more about their own selves and manage to change in some capacity. That makes a good movie.

What makes a good video however is being fun and entertaining. Take Metroid as an example. A fun game but no story at all. So now we have a game that is fun to play, but is kinda boring in review. From a game to movie perspective Megaman X makes much more sense and has ore to work with. You have the outsider (X as the first reploid and as such the father of the maverics), the internal conflict of the main character (why and I here and why do I fight), character progression (the destruction and rebirth of Zero and how it affected X's relationship with him).

MGS would make a better movie than any of my previous examples, however. You have a progression of plot with characters reveling much about themselves throughout the game/story as opposed to get key X to find location y and kill boss z.

The effects you are describing happens in land sales frequently. A man with x acres will give his children each an equal share in the x acres instead of splitting the land up. Then these children will borrow money against their share, sell it off, or give it to their children. After 20 - 30 years the shares are all split up and dilluted until someone comes along and forcloses on one share with an outstanding debt and is able to take all of the property. (There is an 8 year perdiod where the forclosure can be challenged but it is hard to succesfully execute after the forclosure is complete and impossible after 20 years). The term for this 8-20 year period is a colored title. (0-8 years I think is a contested title and 20 on is a clear title).
