My PC is something I built myself, so it's been piece mealed over the years. Right now it's got a 3ghz single core P4 CPU with an on-board graphics chip and a half gig of RAM and the games that shipped with the Orange Box(yes, DRM bad, blah blah blah, I seriously didn't know or bother to keep up with PC gaming) runs like crap. I blew 100 bucks on a new graphics card and a real GPU and now all of the Orange Box games are still struggling, but far less than they were
I bought a MacBook right before the Core 2 Duos dropped(like, 3 days before; i wasn't aware that Steve Jobs was going to piss off a crapload of applestore managers by dropping new products with no notice). Called up pissed, front line sales dork got me set up for a replacement.
At this point, with customer service being so rare these days, I'm sticking with apple. The iPhone thing sure irks the shit out of me.
That's kind of the idea, except that instead of buying more CDs, if you listen to alot of NiN, you're probably going to go see NiN in concert when he comes to town.
Keep MySpace off of it. Not because MySpace is awful, or that the users are idiots. But because they insist that everyone know "Tom." Either there'd have to be a list of accounts various systems use for maintenance, or everyone will just put up with being in everyone else's extended social network thanks to fucking Tom.
I think the Federation as a Utopia still holds true even in the far later seasons of Voyager. Yes, there are humans who leave the federation and do shit like join the Orion Syndicate, but if you live on earth or any number of colonies or civilized worlds, you're guaranteed a relatively comfortable life. Despite section 31 and the dirty dealings therein,
Yeah, but the problem with that aspect is, why the hell do major providers have blacked out areas in densely populated urban environments at the rates we're paying?
If it's "just a phone" we're after, then why aren't we getting it super cheap given the tech that's available? If I'm not going to see 3G wireless data, fine. Can I atleast get cheap "just a phone" rates? If I'm not going to get great data, or cheap voice, why am I paying for mediocre data and expensive voice services?
it's a joke. IN the context, Lewis was ranting about Conservapedia and some conservative video site(Which was just a content aggregator on YouTube; leading him to rant that "The conservative answer to YouTube... IS YOUTUBE"). Yes, there's a strong bias on the part of the community as a whole, but if conservatives want to stop it, they need to step up.
Yeah, but Harry and Ron aren't perfect. Certainly, the Wizarding World that JK Rowling constructs is certainly anti-intellectual, but I'm fairly certain that even as far back as Philosopher's Stone, we see that truth and knowledge are the key difference between being merely brave, and doing the right thing.
You're introduced to loads of characters in each book. In Book 1, Ron, Hermione, Hagrid, Snape, Draco, Dean, Neville, Seamus, McGonnagal, Flitwick, Firenze, etc. Book 2, less so. Lockehart, Molly, Ginny, Arthur, Tom Riddle, Colin Creevy, Lucius Malfoy, etc. Book 3 gives us Sirius, Lupin, Peter Pettigrew, Cedric Diggory and a few other characters. Book 4 was Krum, the vast majority of the Death Eaters, Fleur, Karkaroff, Rita Skeeter, The Tenth Doctor...
We're forced to evaluate some of their loyalties. Karkaroff, we assume, was going to rejoin the death eaters... Until he showed up dead later in either book 5 or 6. We assume that because he's a Weasley, even though he's a giant dick, Percy was going to end up on the side of Good... Until he's shown to side with the Ministry during the Second War until nearly the end of Deathly Hallows. Even Rufus Scrimgeour was questionable until he takes like the Auror he is and choose death over cooperating with the Dark Lord.
The question of Snape's loyalty was always in question, yes, but he's not the only character.
* Why didn't they keep using the time turner thing to go back in time to save people? It's the same reason why Crabbe died at his own hand. Wizards typically are smart enough not to mess with things they ought not be messing with. Horrible things happen to Wizards who meddle with time.
The DoE isn't a monopoly. Private schooling IS an option.
what FUD?

Actually, isn't listening to customer complaints one of the core elements of any business?
Darwin is open sourced.
Maybe quartz isn't, but the underlying OS sure is.
It'd be one thing if it's just "slick" but Apple computers are rather rock solid.
this is pretty much my story.

I only read Catcher in the Rye.

400+ comments and no one's made a comment about how we can now build The Master's Laser Screwdriver?

that would explain the constant references to beetle snuff in DS9

Games are not art.
Games are more like an art gallery. The story is art, the music is art, the graphics are art...
But the game is the package that they all come together in.

Yeah, but Clinton didn't invade. He bombed anything tht vaguely looked like a weapons plant and in 2002-2003...
we found no weapons.
Not really. JRR Tolkien nearly had as much say in his movies as JKR did. JKR just had the benefit of being alive at the time.

So Argumentum ad populum is not a Wizarding spell like accio or expelliarmus?
