How could you say that the PS2, GC and Xbox have added "nothing" compared to the PS and N64?
I'd put the Dreamcast in the PS2, GC and Xboxes realm too, it started what I consider the 'next gen.'
3D sound, higher resolution screens, and most importantly, high bandwidth interfaces are really what's new about this next batch of games.
What pisses me off is the reluctance for manufacturers to really take advantage of the bandwidth on these machines interfaces. I mean, nintendo's done some good work with the GBA connector, and The PS2 has got a few decent peripherals over USB(GT Force wheel!) and the Xbox has custom controllers like the Steel Battalions setup, but those are under utilized bits of hardware, and usually niche controllers too(like the Parapara Paradise controller and the aforementioned Steel Battalions controller).
Sony's even discontinued the firewire port on the PS2! What's up with that?!
Granted, the GC, Xbox and PS2 all have highly sensitive analog controllers for the stock controllers, but not many games take advantage of this. (You'd think since Gran Turismo 3 took advantage of the analog buttons for gas and brake, so'd a game like Initial D: Special Stage...)
If you put the original starwars movies under the same microscope, it sucks just as much as eps 1 and 2 did. if you look at the movies with a child's eye, then eps 1 and 2 look daaaamn good.
Hell, when I was 6 I thought Howard the Duck was a good movie too.
They can have that interface. I dont' like it. It's music playing software. Granted, it has burning capabilities and an interface to the ITMS, but I like my music players sleek and simple.
Now if AOL/NullSoft patents the WinAmp interface, then I'll be pissed.
while there have been projects to bring free UNIX like environments to the x86 world, his project really brought this idea to reality, and his motivation has to be admired too. he doesn't hate microsoft, he just didn't like DOS and Windows(IIRC).
My point was that AVG isn't all that it's cracked up to be. I hope in future versions that they've implemented a small confirmation dialog before you could potentially hose your entire machine.
I had some random virus that corrupted Nero just enough enough to make it think it was altered in a bad way. I had no virus scanner. I was referred to AVG.
in the process of fixing it, AVG wouldn't repair any of my executables, just "quarantine" them. Bloody useless I thought, then I went to "unquarantine." The "unquarantine button" was next to the "toast all quarantined files" button.
Given the early 90's console wars between the various consoles, I'm going to give the win to SNK's NeoGeo, who's outlived most of nintendo's lineup minus the GC and GBA/GBASP, most of Sega's hardware since the death of the mastersystem and basically all of the crappy early-late 90's consoles.
Added nothing!?

Funny
He WAS in Johnny Mneumonic.
Unless you were trying to be funny or ironic.
Back in the 80's, the only people who could appreciate Ewoks were =10 too.

Big deal. they were big in the fifties, they're big now, and why can't they be big a long time ago, in a galaxy far far away?
Besides, the Pod race was more Rally or F1 inspired. the track wasn't a giant ovaloid.
I use windows. What the hell good is applescript going to do for me?
Poor VeriSign! They can't hijack the internet anymore. :(
I can run winamp in a way where it's not rendering anything to the screen and being controlled by keyboard.
now THAT is a flexible interface.
well, what's conflicting is that I"m being told that when driven properly, the EPA numbers are closer to reality than what's being reported.

Yeah. But consider that the hybrid versions of the same car are getting 2x the published gas mileage.. getting nearly 10/15ish MPG is nice.
I believe the Honda DualNote concept car does that, actually. Except it's only a concept car. =(
well, I was hoping the stick would be easier to reach,b ut looking at my ps2's controller, it might not be so bad.
:O
Indeed sir
MOD PARENT UP
It's a DevKit machine.
It better BE a giant, bloated workstation version of the console it's being used to develop for.
It's got a portable version of Gran Turismo 4.
I AM HAPPY WITH THIS.
no, but sierra coughed up big bux for the license to use it in TF2.
I'd say he's worthy of the hall of fame.

it's called living in Vegas. The only place where "last call" even exists are in "family" establishments.

AVG is FREE
and you get what you pay for.

Guess which one I clicked?
