yes, but with the source we can understand how the rendering engine works, gameplay mechanics, and other such details, and just rewrite everything else from scratch.
i wouldn't. i'd say this is more of a case for the FBI. As this is a case of federal policy dealing witha private institution, not a public federal institution. Unless, of course, you count the wholesale buying and selling of senate seats.
LIke when you have to have ~80+% resources free to burn in Windows9x. Total goddamn myth.
Burning faster or slower only matters per CDR drive. I can burn at the full 8x on my drive( Slow, I know) and it won't sound, or even be less compatable than discs burnt at 1 or 2 speed. Why? because my CDR is stable, and it does error correction.
you see, the strength of the later star treks is that the characters are distinct, but they lack insipid catch phrases like, "Dammit, I'm a doctor not a."
The actual capcity of CDs over cartridges wasn't the issue.
it was the manufacturing costs of CDs over Carts. You needed to make Carts in BULK, plus the cost of actually making them... It adds up. With optical media you just press and go. The actual media costs a fraction of what a similar cart would cost. Like NeoGeo games. a CD version, while having horrible loadtimes, is far cheaper, roughly 30 bucks than a neogeo homecart, roughly 100 bucks.
As far as Xbox support? Not bloody likely. Square and Enix are both companies that highly pander to the Japanese market. And will pander to that market first, and given the Xbox's sales in japan? See above comment, Not Bloody Likely.
Why not just donate 10 grand to linus and have him buy the damn thing? it's not like it'll be a surprise to anyone if he tells them how DVD encryption works.
Actually, the PSX had a pack-in sampler CD, i'm not sure what the Saturn had... And with the Xbox being released as a package with TWO games, could be construed as being packaged with 'ink' or with 'blade'. I don't care how fun JetSetRadioFuture or SegaGT2002 is, they're going to become incredibly boring. you will either become sick of the Xbox's game selection, or try to buy new games.
since the Xbox isn't packing 2nd party games, I can only assume they're hoping you'll bite any ol' crap after eating a nice 7.00 burger.
How sad that on the day Microsoft launches [washingtonpost.com] Xbox Live, we have a story about how much money MS is losing on the Xbox.
As a real gamer you should know that the greatest console came with online support, BUILT IN, using the most common medium? rather than catering to the few who do have broadband right from the start?
The desire among the overzelous Linuxites for the Xbox to fail is palpatable at Slashdot. Just look all the posts advising people to buy a Xbox but not buy any games. Just so MS can lose money. Its pathetic and sad.
Pathetic and sad to want to watch just as many/if not more posts saying why the Xbox sucks? sad and pathetic indeed!
Go ahead and buy a Xbox, waste your time and install Linux on it. But I dare you not to play Halo on it (Game of the Year and a work of art).
What? my five minutes to screw the modchip in, boot up to a mandrake install disc and be partitioned and installing in under a half an hour?
I dare you not to plug in your Cat-5 and fire up Unreal Championship (released Today!). Oh! and when Halo2 is released later late 2003, please do'nt go and buy it. Leave it to the serious gamers.
No, Serious gamers already had Unreal Tournament 2003 when it came out a month ago. Serious gamers don't really care about the PC/Console "war" either...
The Xbox is a great piece of tech. Real gamers know it. Thats why in the states its outselling the GameCube (read linked article above).
Then why does it have specs of a low end PC box? Atleast sony can claim that thier tech is revolutionary in some sort with the fucked up rendering engine.
you mean that Sega, Tecmo, and Konami aren't major japanese Developers? developers who made such games as Sonic the Hedgehog, Ninja Gaiden, and Metal Gear? not to mention Crazy Taxi, Dead or Alive, or Dance Dance Revolution? gasp!
No, this is to stop the crackpots from getting on the Art bell show and spread thier message like a plague.

However, a comparison between modern IDE-SCSI converters and drives IS a news story.
like how the Seagate drive has wonky performance using a converter.

That's anyone can DO about the case.
Unless of course, you want them to appeal or something.
prebuilt, or open building isn't holding me back from using a Mac, the lack of software(*coughgamescough*) is. Geez, get it right. :)
Prior art of this? /who *.
IRC Opers have been doing this for years.
Flamebait, but I'll bite. Only because I have the said article in another browser tab and just not lazy enough to post it here.

It's a GODDAMN myth.

"It stinks! It stinks! It stinks! It stinks!" "Yes Mister Sherman, we know it stinks."
you see, the strength of the later star treks is that the characters are distinct, but they lack insipid catch phrases like, "Dammit, I'm a doctor not a ."
Who didn't cringe in Insurrection when Data said, "Saddle up. Lock and load?"
I didn't. he was still trying to get a hold of using that damned emotion chip.
PFFFT.
Gene was a bane to star trek. the first two seasons of TNG are just unwatchable. They're like hour long B movies.
if the entire Enterprise-E ran on Linux. Now THAT would be newsworthy!
After this story was posted, i noticed alot of major abondonware sites managed to get hammered... Hrmm..
A low tech, old age solution to a high tech, new age problem.
smoke signals!

Problem.
SG1's produced by basically either Showtime or Cinemax. I can't remember exactly either.
Unless Sci-Fi picked up the producing part of the deal...
Too small?
i think not...
I have a whole host of 3" diamter CDs... And there ARE dvdr versions of those CDs.
I don't even own a -GBA- yet...
Metroid Fusion, metroid prime, animal crossing, this new dealie..
I wish I was rich.
Problemo.
AT&T has been using some GSM phones, same as VoiceStream, and Cingular.
However, if i wanted to use my phone on a VoiceStreamor AT&T SIM card, I'm screwed.
