Yeah, but those tablets aren't selling. Those tablets aren't in the, "Let's chase after the iPad" tablet market segment.
I love Apple's products, and I despise Apple's lawsuits based on look and feel(Apple's a big boy company with lots of lawyers to argue this in court; they don't need me)...
But the thing that sticks in my craw about the whole mess is how the consumer electronics industry turned on a dime to mimic the iPad. It's disgusting to think that companies like Palm, HP, Lenovo, et al, could build iPad caliber products but it just isn't in their corporate ecosystem to do so.
I wish microsoft would get back into the joystick market. I miss the Sidewinder Precision Pro.
God those were awesome joysticks. Too bad the flight sim/mech sim lines of games are dead enough to make the whole idea moot.
(It's mostly dead; new games are being put out by indie devs and some new products are coming out... Any slower though and we'll have to rifle through the genre's pockets for spare change.)
I don't. where I worked they stressed we could be under court order to produce any documents in our possession relating to a case and not to be stupid with email. I would never email something like that out. That would be stupid if it ever came out in court.
I get prejailbroken, open version of iOS, but... Why the camera button? Mind you, I still dislike the idea of using volume up as a shutter button, even more so after finding out going into the Camera app pauses my audio playback >:(
When Steve died, i set my wall paper to a picture of him with a few clicks. When Dennis Ritchie died, I slipped a small quote from him into my bashrc. If there's not a stark contrast between what these two men did, and why, I can't find it.
I'm looking at my laptop, I see no less than 4 different ports for bidirectional data. USB, Firewire, Thunderbolt, ExpressCard/32... Ethernet if that counts would make it 5.
There's space on motherboards everywhere for thunderbolt. Especially considering that the mini DP is free to license and use as a port, and it plays nice with DisplayPort devices... I don't see how this is a bad situation.
Just because USB was everywhere and Firewire wasn't doesn't mean firewire was a failure. Just because you largely see SATA ship doesn't mean SAS was a failure, or worth it to invest in it.
Let's get over this mindset, please.
Thunderbolt = Speedy all-in-one PCI-E on a thin, ubiquitous cable(compared to other external PCI-E solutions).
USB 3 = Really frickin' fast USB(Also capable of being carried on Thunderbolt)
RMS is allowed to be sobering about his point of view.
I think RMS is wrong. I think that Steve didn't restrict people's freedom. You're still free to buy Android, winmo, meego, etc. Other than freedom and openness, I don't see a compelling reason.

I wish I was more in tune with his philosophy earlier on in life. When I was a teenager, I really could've fucking used it.
No, Android doesn't have voice recognition, it support's Google's Voice Recognition API. It's all done via an API call to Google's services.
Siri's entirely on the phone on the other hand.
Also, the optics in the 4S are better than the optics on the N8, even has a slightly wider aperture size too at f/2.4
The only two devices being left in the cold are the 3G and the 1st gen iPhone. Given the iPhone 3GS is free on contract as of the 14th, there's good reason to upgrade if you're still on the 3G.
Server hardware isn't apples domain. Nor would I want an Xserve. I'd want a beefy Dell/HP/Lenovo/custom rig/etc. I'd want to develop on a MacBook, but deploy there.
I really don't give a shit anymore about who wins. this isn't apple's first legal wrangling over look and feel, and I don't give a shit if they win or lose.
Reality is, it is inarguable that everyone's rushing to make iPad competitors because the iPad hit it big and to do that they have to steal what made the iPad a success in the first place(minimalist hardware, touch screen UI).
Uh, I'd hate to interrupt your diatribe on nutrition, but, the reality is, Doritos have a *lot* of nutrients. Highly processed foods are also highly nutritious. The science just doesn't add up for you.
The problem isn't corn or fast fast food, it's over consumption of food married with low activity rates.
Please stop your nonsense ranting. You look like an idiot.
I don't know. If they're looking to use this thing to sell digital services rather than having their digital services being used to sell their hardware, it's likely they may lock everything down to appease the mighty overlords of content.
However, I'm guessing it's probably going to be locked down and running Android in it's barest form. Sort of like a locked down Grid10 tablet.
If Amazon sees this as a way to sell digital media, then I think they're looking at a hard sell. Apple's digital media offerings seem to try to buttress their digital media devices, not the other way around.

It cracks me up thinking that for all of their foresight, neither Kubrick nor Clarke could imagine what would happen to IBM.
They couldn't even get screen caps from their own product!
It's on samsung's site! What the hell?
It's not just that. It's also shit like this.
That came from this/ screen cap.
It's absurd.

Scorsese is a brilliant director, I don't mind this in the least bit.

Billions? I'm wiling to bet trillions. Or more.

sure, if you're pushing it as hard as you can down a drag strip.
When you're taking one around turns though, having a 1.3L engine that's so small and light it can sit damn near over the front axle. FMR designs rock.
Oh god I agree with APK.

I just got a report from Webster, Webster and Cohen that their analysts find that bears are catholic and the pope shits in the woods.
Probably due to that new bear pope, Pope Maulington XXIII
"when you say no to people they get pissed off, go to the San Jose Mercury and they write a shitty article about you."
That sounds familiar.

Sure, and never mind the box art layout, the wall wart, the breakout cable, art assets...
This isn't the first time Samsung's been caught cheating either.
Granted, this also isn't Apple's first time trying to sue on "look and feel." Granted, I think this time they've got a much more solid case.

Elop isn't to blame for Nokia's problems. OPK didn't do that great of a job to begin with.
Yes, it's just rounded corners, heaven forbid it also be about the fact that Samsung repeatedly steals Apple's UI IP.
like so.

Samsung's idea of a tablet pre-iPad
And of course, post-iPad it looks like a fucking iPad.

Worst?! XP had that flaw that let you install Vista.

I wish amazon the best in this though.
