These people didn't exactly vote for Reagan.

Now in deference to you, and the previous like minded posters, I googled a little to find some specific vocal anti-nuclear groups, and I stumbled across this link:

It was prepared by the Nuclear Energy Institute, and their findings seem to indicate that opposition to nuclear energy has reduced over the years, even among left-leaning and environmental groups. (From the source, you may consider this propaganda, but I sincerely hope it's true. I'd love to tell the Middle East we don't need their oil any more, so have a nice Jihad without us.)

I sincerely hope that during this second Bush term, we can find an increased role for nuclear energy in a coherent and comprehensive energy policy. (Even if we still relied on oil for gasoline, how great would it be if we didn't need any oil at ll in the production of electricity?)

Second, we always "lose out" in the UN Human Development Index because it is an impartial scale devised and weighted by a bunch of socialistic bureaucrats from mostly piss-poor backwater nations with a collectivist agenda.

As one of the other posters mentioned, with time and patience, anybody could theoretically become a world-class poker player, whereas only people hitting the genetic lottery can become a world-class professional athelete. That level of accessibility goes a long way.

It has been estimated that a few years ago, approximately 20% of the population played poker occassionally, or more frequently. That was before the TV explosion.

But here's the interesting thing... Now that he's announced that he won't be renewing, he'll essentially have the next 15 months to promote his Sirius gig, and encourage people to buy the hardware and subscriptions.

CBS/Viacom, and terrestrial radio in general, can't afford to give their competitor that kind of free ride.

Even though Stern has a contract, I don't think they'll keep him on the air. They'll have to pay him out (or he'll take them to court, and win, just like he's doing with Clear Channel over the 6 markets they kicked him out of), and they'll have to put a replacement show on, even though it'll hurt their ratings and advertising revenue.

Stern will not be on regular Radio for the entire period between now and his Satellite debut. (He hasn't publically predicted this, but if you look at how he's finally gotten his website together this year (He had no website up until this year) I'm sure he knows this to be true.)
