    IANAL. There are certainly times when delaying the trial benefits the defense, but like as not, many are held ad infinitum in lower profile cases because they are poor and know no better. A Writ of Habeus Corpus can be drawn up by any jailhouse lawyer to challenge illegal detention...provided, of course, one hasn't run afoul of the Patriot Act or engaged in sedition.

    I have been looking for this to occur shortly after birth under the guise of "medical records in an emergency"....we would be much easier for our overlords to keep track of.

    This research is extremely promising to aid a small family compound during a short outage, and when used in combination with some wind, solar, and perhaps scavenged propane, a small group of people might live quite comfortably. There is a J-Lo class but though.....there will neither be enough batteries nor enough forethought to keep everyone sustainable where they live. The earth's biggest environmental concern is that a particular species has overrun the planet.

    Indeed. Blindly toeing the party line. I'm a Bill-of-Rights keep-your-religion-out-of-my-politics conservative, but as sagely postulated above, Romney is hard to like even with the bar as low we set it for politicians. Obama is clearly more worthy of the public trust. Perhaps the losses in House & Senate races by the Akin-like braintrust is a sign the apocalypse has been delayed.

  14. The mind is the same as muscle in this one regard: exercise it and it becomes stronger. Video games, puzzles, /. posting, and complex problem solving at work all exercise and improve cognitive function. We may do more, rather than less, of this thinking thing because of advances in technology.
