Actually, Lamborghini started out making tractors. One day Ferruccio Lamborghini complained to Enzo Ferrari that the clutch on his Ferrari was unsatisfactory. Enzo answered "What does a tractor maker know about super cars? Go back to your farm and leave the supercars to me.". The rest is history.
I hope you (and others who feel like this guy) go to vote against the Dictator, don't just complain about it, do something about it. Sure you might think Kerry won't be any better, but I doubt it will be worse under Kerry.
150 Dells? Sound like a homogeneous system.. are they all configured the same? If so, I can't see why a certain percentage should fail, they would either all die or all live. Well, I had no problems installing SP4, so that's 150 Dells + 1 generic system.
To be on topic, the article talked about SP2 RC3, RC means Release Candidate, not Release. So why do people here expect it to work perfectly.
* Didn't know how to use Ximian Open Office, so the user closed it immediately and sat frustrated
Oh man, poor girl (my instincts say it's a girl, because guys just don't sit there being frustated), I somehow feel bad for her, perhaps ready to cry because the computer isn't working "right".
Anyway, being accostumed to Windows, I find the quirks of Linux frustating as well, for example sounds never work 100% for me, without tweaking. Sure, I can read the HOWTOs and tweak it till it's perfect, but sometimes I don't feel like it, especially when there's so many other quirks that need tweaking..
The AC below claims it's the source-code to Gaim. Looking at the filename (and the reputation of Lindows/Spire as thieving bastards), I suspect the same. Has anyone looked at it, to see if it's any different to the vanilla gaim source?
Trying to format the system drive from inside Windows would bring the error message "Cannot format, drive in use." (or something similar) Go ahead, try it.;)
Social connections in CS? Google gave them out to almost everybody. I have a blogger account I only post once or twice into, and even I got an invitation from Google. I'd reckon the majority of bloggers are not CS-types, and I also wonder how one can find himself inside a blog-network.
As for giving Gmail accounts as prizes or giving them to troops (as the first post to this article mentions), gee, what, did all other email systems in the world die and you can't use email anymore? I bet 95% of troops out there already have an email address, what's preventing the other 5% to signup to Yahoo!Mail, (or if that doesn't work, Hotmail, urgh)..
Speaking of Yahoo!, I wonder when they'll get to Iraq and we start to see an url like www.yahoo.iq. I bet www.whitehouse.iq is already reserved. I have dibs on www.high[er].iq and www.low[er].iq, hahaha I'll sell them and be rich!!:p
Despite the fact that they do speak English, the Germans still dub non-German movies to German. It's one -- albeit small -- reason why I don't go the movies that often. The other reason being, hey downloading it costs nothing. So yeah, the German government with this dumb law is partly guilty why there are so many illegal downloads of movies.
And the Germans are pretty bad at keeping their language intact. In TV, magazines and the economy you hear a lot of dumb English phrases. Here's one I just made up "Bei diesen Problem weiss ich den Solution noch nicht. Ich muss es noch checken.". Look at the website of Deutsche Telekom; "WebEasy", "enjoyTarif"... oh well, I could rant all day.
So, what's this 4K stack, would the old Nvidia driver not work at all if we tried using it? Does the size (4K) have any relation to the AMD page bug? I'm curious.:)
Man, you can't spell for shit and don't know what you're talking about. Hyundai is Korean, Toyota is Japanese, not Chinese/"Chinaese".. but I guess they from Asia are all the same to you, huh?
Oh, apparently it's not just a picture.. first thing I noticed is the screen image is so sharp, it must be an $IMAGE_EDITOR job, copying and pasting a screenshot into the display area. But after you mentioned the scrollbars, I noticed, they even work! The display area is actually HTML, so the scrollbars are your standard system scrollbar.. notice the title is "PDA Simulator", it's a simulation of how it works, I guess.
Too bad it looks pretty lame on my computer, its standard font is Times..
Notepad95 (98/NT too?) didn't even understand the Ctrl-S shortcut! I use metapad", it's cool! Replacing notepad.exe with it is quite a hack though, you have to have the speed to outwit the System File Protection.:)
These GMail invites are making a new phenomenon indeed. Just mention on Slashdot you have some, and watch the Slashdotters turn to really lame AOLers saying "I want one, me too please!!!".
Do you get 2 invites to give away, or a lot more? I only had 2 invites to give away. I (am/was) wondering if this is the start of a new troll mode: "Reply to this posrt if you want a gmail address", look at all those Slashdotters turning to AOL'ers saying "me too please", so fucking lame..
To be on topic, what a bad name. Most OS'es don't have generic words as names, in the case of Windows (when the "Microsoft" is left out) it's still a description of the operating mode: through a GUI with "windows".
But Haiku? Damnit. I find it offensive to the original meaning of the word. And won't we sound silly when we say "I'm installing haiku" or "Hey they released a new Haiku!" Argh!!!
CSU did win the EU-elections in Bavaria (Stimmenanteile = votes share), but I wouldn't be surprised at that (I'll explain later). Their friend CDU won 40 out of the 99 seats for Germany in the EU parliament. CDU and CSU are in coalition, as well as SPD and the Greens (Grünen), SPD and the Greens managed to win the national German elections 2 years ago, but this loss in the EU-elections show the public's opinion of the way they are running the country so far.
The CSU has always been winning in Bavaria, it's a local party to the state. Some also joke it's the national party because "Bavaria is not Germany". This view is also the reason it doesn't get good results everywhere else, who'd want to have a "foreigner" as their chancellor?;-)

Wow, could've gotten 2 Linux licences for that money. :)

Well, I did the looking, and it does contain files like "sipphone.c", so I guess I must apologize to Linspire for speaking bad of them.

Wow, that sort of technology must be from a million years in the future!

Ouch... very very strange. The last paragraph sounds like something that should be in a porn^W erotic movie, though. ;-)

Knowing students, what's preventing a currently "non-privileged" student to borrow the username/password from a priveledged one.. :)

Oh no, the AOLers are here...
Well, technically there is POP3 access to your Yahoo! Mail account, you have to pay for it..
Wow, this is /. , do you think you really needed to explain the procedure?
Jesus, they talked about it in Congress, if that's not overreacting. Granted they are isolated moronic individuals...
I think this comment sums it up nicely.
