So, any guesses as to why MS is issuing this KB -- which doesn't fit the motto of "enhancing the web-browsing experience" or whatever marketing crap they had -- instead of working on a patch? Maybe the problem is so integrated in Windows that they have no idea how to fix it, short of releasing a new compile of all their.exe's? It's basically a string handling problem, isn't it.
In a Nelson voice, "Haha!" (fingers pointed at dweeby Bill Gates). Thanks for supplying another argument for switching browsers.

Lucky for you. Sometimes aptitude won't work because it wants conflicting packages. For example some packages in KDE3.1 wants a particular qtlibs package, and some others want a different qtlibs. Of course that's the fault of those providing the apt-sources, but it's a bit annoying how one has to look to other sources because the official tree is outdated..
Whereas Gentoo's tree has a lot of up-to-date packages, and most of them work with each other with no tweaking.
I just don't get how, after seeing the horrible destruction that WWII brought to Europre, and the millions of people exterminated by Hitler's regime, that people in Europe can so freely toss around those types of accusations. The only assumption that I can draw is that you do not fully understand the English language.
Eh, that's exactly it, a lot of Europeans (Western Europe under police-state Hitler, Eastern Europe under police-state communism) probably know -- or can understand from personal/family history -- what it's like to live under an evil regime. Maybe they see that the same thing is happening in USA, that's why they're afraid of it, and they're trying to make you aware that you (as a citizen of USA) too might get shafted, unless you do something about it.
And don't feel so superior, English originated in England, although that's hard to say, considering English is also a branch of the Germanic languages, and England is in Europe, Mr. Smart American. And, when you consider the budget cuts GWB has done to the US education system, Europeans might even speak the language better than Americans in a few decades.
You have stupid laws Oh yes... we're the _only_ ones who have bad laws.
That's no argument. Let's have an analogy, let's say you have blonde hair. You want to go to a nightclub, but they don't let blonde people in. You say "You have a stupid rule!", and the bouncer replies "Duh, like we're the only one who have stupid rules.". Would you be satisfied with that answer?
Do TTT and ROTK qualify as sequels anyway? The abrupt ending do entice people to come back and see what will happen next (not to say that's the only thing it had, yes the three films were amazing) Peter Jackson had always said, it's the one film in three parts.
Another film like that right now is Kill Bill, wonder how it will turn out.
Knoppix was born in Germany, I find it funny that the Japanese KDE has a German error message "df: >>/mnt/cdrom<<: Datei oder Verzeichnis nicht gefunden.".. I wonder how the Japanese (the non-German speaking ones, so no one can call me ignorant;) would enjoy that.
Talking about Cygwin, I remember trying to copy a file from Windows to a Linux computer via the network. It was pretty big, and I didn't want to waste time using SSH's encryption. I tried netcat (they have a Windows version), which worked quite neatly, but it was damn slow.
I had a Linux system (not the target system), where I could smbmount the Windows share, read the file from the SMB share, and netcat it out to the target computer. Fascinatingly, transferring it this way was a lot faster.
The point? Windows is lame, and emulated Unix in Windows would be a lot slower..
Does it sound like the, uhm, action is coming from the middle, i.e. where the audience would usually be?
Oh, maybe that just happens when you hook up four speakers to one mono output, like a friend of mine once did, bragging about his surround system afterwards.
Yep, and they should put in a paragraph about cyber-terrorism and how most exploits hit Windows-based systems, which can remain without a vendor patch for months!
That (the bit about the ISP forgetting who you were) is interesting if it were true, but won't the ISP expect that people might upgrade their computers, with one that has a different MAC address?
I'm glad it's summer in Australia, better than the cold weather here.. they'll probably go out and put shrimp on the barby afterwards, man I miss Australia.
I dunno about the rest of the decaying civilized world (hey we're talking about TV here), but the latest thing with commercials in Germany is to cut a film scene right in the middle and show ads!! It's so fucking annoying. One film I remember they started doing this was "Keeping The Faith", 2 guys go to pick up a girl (a character who's going to show up for the first time in the movie in this scene) at the airport, they get there, they say "So where is she? Is that her?" Cut.
Normally you'd expect the scene to go on, just the camera angle to change and show the arrival gate with the girl walking through it. But no, it cut and had the TV station logo and the cheesy music and "Werbung"!!! (German for "Commercial") FUCK FUCK FUCK! It was so fucking annoying.
Just too good I don't watch too much TV anyway, and have video-on-demand (100 Mbps DormNet) when I want to watch films.. fuck the TV stations.
True challenge? Hehe, they're so incompetent that they should be arrested for wasting everybody's time..

Well Amazon runs Apache, and since their business is entirely dependant on their web-presence, that's a pretty strong example. Whereas most FT-500 just have a site that says "Welcome! We do this and that, we sell this and that, contact us at bla bla, bye!"
Sounds like an idyllic place.. 1 TV stations, 2 radio stations (1 AM, 1 FM, maybe it's they broadcast the same content?), no worrying what's on the other channel..
Imagine playing cooperative Counterstrike with a few people who are also on the plane, and then talking to your teammate...
